What is your aim with all of this? I mean do you think you are scoring points on the internet? Is what you are doing by insulting others make your case whatever that is better. Do you aim to silence people who dare I say it are happy playing FFXIV? Are you mad at them for being happy? Does it make you a better person for having tried to belittle and insult others? What exactly is wrong? Does someone else's opinions bother you that much?

I mean I’m fine with you enjoying 14, I have never in a single Comment (peruse them if you want I have nothing to hide) said that if you enjoy 14 right now I think worse of you for it, if anything if you enjoy 14 as it is right now I’m actually jealous of you

I know the forums go nowhere, trust me I’ve been around the block enough to know that, I just generally get enjoyment out of heated debate (which I admit has spiralled into rudeness here), what I really don’t like is blatant hypocrisy that also targets IRL, should I have bitten first at the “play other games”, probably not, it’s not like it’s the first time I’ve seen it, does that remotely justify saying people who aren’t happy with the current state of the game fail in IRL relationships, definitely not

I need to start ignoring “play other games” comments because I have just as much chance at changing your mind its a valid argument as you do of changing my mind it’s a stupid argument, but playing the high road of “you won’t change their minds woe is them” really doesn’t make you look any better right now, but I’ll at least apologise for slinging cheap shots at you

I think if I were to drop FF, I probably wouldn't continue with the MMO genre, at least in terms of the current state of them. I'd just go back to variety gaming, really... MK, BF4, Astroneer, and just whatever single-player title I feel inclined to, really.

That being said, I probably wouldn't outright quit, but probably wouldn't maintain a consistent sub, since it wouldn't be worthwhile, but we'll see.

Why are they defending a game they barely even play?



These players' mounts usually only consist of MogStation, MSQ, event and welfare handout mounts (i.e. mogtome mounts). They just barely do any content.

Of course, you may have observed that when it comes to discussion of the actual game content, these players have next to nothing to say or don't appear in those threads. That is precisely because they do nothing in the game, and so have precisely zero to offer to any real game discussion outside of drama threads.

A single aveyond post, as bizarre as it can be sometimes, has far more game discussion than the entire lifetime output of most of these drama-thread-thriving FF14 defenders, whom you never see actually talking about the actual game.

Also... LOL, wouldn't really use minions, mounts, and god forbid achievements as being indicative of anything, given that argument could quite literally be turned on its head against just as many people that complain, as to those that also 'defend'. Could quite easily say there are people complaining about having nothing to do when they arguably barely even touch the game. Just LOL

Thank you supersnow I do accept your apology and I am sorry if I offended you too. Because actually I have read some of your posts and agree with many of your points mostly in silence I guess. My point remains I think 'play other games' is taken out of context sometimes. I think most people who say that do it from a place of hey no sweat do something you enjoy instead. I know maybe there are others saying that to dismiss a complaint, but not all of us. MMOs have a shelf life and I think you know this and many people do too. MMOs can not keep pace with players who consume the content it's just not possible. Anyway, EW was not the best expansion for me. But since I like this game over all I'm willing to wait it out and do other things, some of that includes other hobbies.

"Play something else" has been standard since ARR. The game has never been designed to be the only thing you play.

In the most non combative way possible I say “as a defence” because very often when someone brings up a criticism (the big one that usually brings it up is “EW’s content has no repeatability”), someone will inadvertently chime in with “if there is nothing you want to do play other games”

Which whether you class that as a defence or a deflection misses the key point that there is content people want to do they just want to work towards something or be rewarded for doing said content more than once

All this talk about rewards is imo missing the point just as much. If I dont find the content fun to do, why would I want the game to tell me to do more of it. If I find the content fun to do, rewards are just an extra bonus. Gameplay needs to be fun first, literally anyone could make a relic style checklist for people to complete for example.

That’s fair, I tend to take the most negative connotation of that (outright deflection) whereas you are more likely to take the positive meaning (hey concerned friend, Just have some fun), I think I’m just going to leave this argument alone for a bit, just not engage when I see that particular comment

Yep. The game is also a decade old at this point. Even older than that if you consider the period of existence before ARR.

So I do not think that it is unreasonable to expect the game to be doing more than it currently is to not only please a broader variety of players but to provide more meaningful rewards available within the game itself. As it stands, the game's cash shop is being updated more regularly than the game itself and there's an increasing amount of merchandise available for pre-order many months ahead of release...at the same time as a projected content drought.
