I mean, if you want to run the risk that your game will be pulled out from under you and shut down at a moment's notice, then sure, Guild Wars II (or anything else by NCSoft) might be the game for you.

- Been playing a bunch of BG3 myself. Not sold on the Greatest Game of All Time rhetoric, but it's certainly on top of my GOTY list thus far.
- Limbus Company has wholly overtaken my designated gacha slot - but I don't mind because their monetization strategy is incredibly generous, PM does good work, and the hard content is genuinely challenging rather than the "difficulty" of a hurf durf farm for 16000 hours grind.
- Dungeon Squad for my 'before bed/on transportation/mid-commute' mobile game.. although the art is rapidly becoming so horny that I'm consciously choosing to sit in the back row of the bus with it. Gamecoaster is a tiny little Korean outfit - might literally just be one guy, I'm honestly not sure - but they pack an incredible amount of replayability in their work and the post-purchase monetization is completely optional.
- F-Zero 99 came out of nowhere and I love it. Perfect little game for burning 10-20 minutes here and there on. Quite the skill ceiling on it, without it feeling totally unapproachable or making you feel totally uncompetitive if you're not a master.
Armored Core 6 looks spectacular, but I just haven't had the time yet. Blue Protocol was on my radar, but after two of my former co-workers who shared those hopes went to AGS and have become absolutely silent on the subject, coupled with what I've heard from the previews and betas, I've had to let that one go.
Only to disgruntled FFXIV players is daring to suggest someone play something they DO enjoy instead of a game they don't enjoy considered some grave logical fallacy. It's bizarre.
As for suggestions:
- BG3 (obviously)
- Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 is coming next week
- AC VI
- EDF 6 HOPEFULLY soon
- I've been replaying Fallout 3 in the New Vegas engine, very fun as well.

Only to GCBTW is “play something else” a valid shield against the idea that EW physically didn’t release enough content
Can you imagine using that defence against the WOW community, they’d laugh you out of the forums
"Endwalker has some issues for a lot of players, you should stop supporting FFXIV until they've gotten their act together, and play other games instead."
"OMG STOP DEFENDING ENDWALKER"

Ah I see we’ve transitioned to “play other games to send a message that EW isn’t good enough”

FF14 players literally don't know any better. It's not even demeaning, it's quite literally the fact.
Which is why so many FF14 players are now outraged at paid mods for FF14 when they went out of their bubble for once to play BG3 and realize that most games don't have paid mods (or that the culture is one that is strongly disapproving of paid mods).
A huge reason why FF14 players will bend over and accept scraps without any protest is because they have never played good games in their lives, ever. In fact I'd say most MMO players are exactly of this stripe, since MMOs uniquely are able to fill up a player's entire playtime over a decade or more (without actually offering good gameplay). The entire MMO genre sucks because its players don't know better and don't demand better. That's why it's a dying genre.
Ironically, the loudest "defenders" of FF14 care the least about FF14. These people don't care about making FF14 a good game. Their very own behavior (which you can see on the Lodestone) shows that they actually barely play the game, if at all. I would not take seriously the opinions of people who play FF14 for 2 hours a month, and yet, strangely, defend the game non-stop on social media. In fact I'd argue the loudest "defenders" outside of the forums aren't even subbed. Isn't it strange? Why are they defending a game they barely even play?
These players' mounts usually only consist of MogStation, MSQ, event and welfare handout mounts (i.e. mogtome mounts). They just barely do any content.
Of course, you may have observed that when it comes to discussion of the actual game content, these players have next to nothing to say or don't appear in those threads. That is precisely because they do nothing in the game, and so have precisely zero to offer to any real game discussion outside of drama threads.
A single aveyond post, as bizarre as it can be sometimes, has far more game discussion than the entire lifetime output of most of these drama-thread-thriving FF14 defenders, whom you never see actually talking about the actual game.

It is easier to ignore your problems than to look for solutions.
This community would love nothing more than to have you leave if you have any kind of issue with the game that could be improved upon.

It’s just common sense. I give money to things that I’m fine with as they are. I don’t give money to companies whose products I’m unhappy with so I can rant on forums for years.
But it seems the forums are the actual hobby for some, under the guise of thinking the endless hours they spend on forums no one at SE cares about will mean anything.
