Can you imagine using that defence against the WOW community, they’d laugh you out of the forums

you can't argue with them they will just insult you for your opinion because fear insulting others because they enjoy something you do but won't take advice from you or anyone on hey play something else if you are not happy. No one in their right mind wants to be around constant negativity but hey they want to be all edgy on the forums and internet. When all I can do is laugh at that mentality. Up is down down is up. Hahaha oh and I criticize because I care is such a load, yeah I bet most of the ones saying they criticize because they care don't have very many long lasting relationships either, because they don't understand constructive criticism vs insults.

It’s just common sense. I give money to things that I’m fine with as they are. I don’t give money to companies whose products I’m unhappy with so I can rant on forums for years.

But it seems the forums are the actual hobby for some, under the guise of thinking the endless hours they spend on forums no one at SE cares about will mean anything.

In the most non combative way possible I say “as a defence” because very often when someone brings up a criticism (the big one that usually brings it up is “EW’s content has no repeatability”), someone will inadvertently chime in with “if there is nothing you want to do play other games”

Which whether you class that as a defence or a deflection misses the key point that there is content people want to do they just want to work towards something or be rewarded for doing said content more than once

I think if I were to drop FF, I probably wouldn't continue with the MMO genre, at least in terms of the current state of them. I'd just go back to variety gaming, really... MK, BF4, Astroneer, and just whatever single-player title I feel inclined to, really.

That being said, I probably wouldn't outright quit, but probably wouldn't maintain a consistent sub, since it wouldn't be worthwhile, but we'll see.

Why are they defending a game they barely even play?



These players' mounts usually only consist of MogStation, MSQ, event and welfare handout mounts (i.e. mogtome mounts). They just barely do any content.

Of course, you may have observed that when it comes to discussion of the actual game content, these players have next to nothing to say or don't appear in those threads. That is precisely because they do nothing in the game, and so have precisely zero to offer to any real game discussion outside of drama threads.

A single aveyond post, as bizarre as it can be sometimes, has far more game discussion than the entire lifetime output of most of these drama-thread-thriving FF14 defenders, whom you never see actually talking about the actual game.

Also... LOL, wouldn't really use minions, mounts, and god forbid achievements as being indicative of anything, given that argument could quite literally be turned on its head against just as many people that complain, as to those that also 'defend'. Could quite easily say there are people complaining about having nothing to do when they arguably barely even touch the game. Just LOL

I mean you know who I am, and I can at least vouch for myself that I actually have tried most of the content before making any critique of it. Of course there are many criticizing the game who do nothing in the game, but every criticism I make comes from actual understanding of what the content is.

You're right thought, that it's both sides. I simply discount opinions from people defending the game if they have done nothing in the game, and quite frankly there is also literally no point in talking to them about anything since they most of the time can't even begin to comprehend some of the criticisms people make. At least with the criticizers I'm going to assume they've tried the content once and didn't complete it since they found it dull. I just go a step further to complete it before I make any judgment.

I can only speak for myself but I only comment on/complain about issues and other peoples' complaints if I understand what the issue actually is.

Look at how absolutely useless posts #2-#4 and #6 are. That's 90% of the forums, whether they defend or criticize the game.

As a tangent, the uselessness of most forum posts, made by a legion of players who opine about the game while probably playing it for 20 minutes every 8 months or something, is why I never took most people seriously here, and I rarely take the forums seriously either.

There's now a contingent of forum users, many of whom are posting in this thread, who literally have never made a single meaningful contribution to threads and are just here for the defender vs. criticizer drama. How can anyone take them seriously? I think sometimes they deserve to be trolled.
