    Remember the Sage insignia change?

Square Enix has changed the icon for the Sage job in Final Fantasy XIV's upcoming expansion after players expressed concern over trypophobia. As reported by IGN, the original icon featured three pillar-like symbols, each with a hole at the top, causing the holes to appear in a cluster.

Trypophobia is the aversion, fear, or disgust of irregular or patterned clusters of holes, bumps, and the like. In a blog post, Final Fantasy XIV director and producer Naoki Yoshida addressed the concerns from the community over the original Sage job icon design and announced the new design.

The SGE change isn’t remotely comparable because nobody was negatively affected by it

Now you can argue (and it’s extremely likely true) that the majority of players like simpler gameplay, but you also can’t deny that simpler gameplay turns away other people, as we’ve discussed before on this thread people who want more complex content generally want higher skill ceilings without affecting the skill floor, in this example higher skill ceiling with no change to skill floor so nobody is negatively affected is leaving the original instance alone and having people that struggle use very easy mode, nerfing the original instance makes the people who want the harder content have a worse experience for nobody’s benefit

This is the whole problem this thread is trying to explain, nobody (or nobody sane) wants people of lower skill to straight up being locked out of the main quest but nerfing the base content when there is already a very easy mode benefits nobody and makes the experience actively worse for people who want harder content, and that’s basically exclusively what square has been doing since SB

Two people fail a msq scenario. They then get the difficulty option.

Person A dials it up to hard. and Person B dials it down to very easy. Exactly how doer Person Bs choice affect Person A?

Because person B complaining nerfed the original duty and now I have to fail it to put it up to hard to get the original experience of it

If you are person B quietly fail it and take the very easy option, don’t force square to nerf it and then add a hard (read original mode) that forces someone to fail the nerfed mode to get the hard mode

    False

The very first time by default is on normal difficulty.
