Whether in from the cold did or didn’t have adequate explanation of where to go and what to do is completely irrelevant

I’m saying that if you are having anxiety attacks over a solo instance in a game you know has an easy option if you fail it once then that’s a case beyond what the game should really be making accessible for

Its completely relevant. You now have 35 minutes to explore 6 city blocks, at night, with random enemies that spawn and attack you and will follow you,. I wont tell you anything at all, fail and you do it again..and again..and again..and again...

If you fail it once you can put it on very easy mode

Regardless the 40 minute timer is ridiculously generous, I did it totally blind, fumbled around like a headless chicken for half of it and still cleared with plenty of time to spare

But again that isn’t relevant because I’m saying having an anxiety attack at a solo duty in ff14 (again when you know it can be made very easy) is beyond the scope of accessibility

It's a snowflake world these days in all honesty, you have to cater to every single person in the world no matter what they have, I actually wonder why we arent just sitting afk in Limsa all day with no content at all, since apparently anxiety is a factor in how content should be built, then we shouldnt have ultimates or savage raiding, I'm sure that's also anxiety inducing for a lot of people, hell, why even have anything at all ? Anything and everything can be an anxiety trigger, some people have arachnophobia, so we shouldnt have any spiders in the game at all too.

If you go the route of catering to every single person, you end up with an empty game, which is what FFXIV is. An empty shell of nothingness, with the most bland content there is, thank god the social aspect and glamour saves this game (and housing in my case)

I find it hard to believe that anyone failed it more than once.

    and this

The fact that very easy mode actually exists always just shocks me, like is very easy “in from the cold” the game just auto succeeding tha instance for you
Btw easy mode doesnt "auto succeed the instance" for you either. With all due respect, it would be appreciated if you didnt invent things.

I find it hard to believe that anyone failed it more than once.
As a mentor, I helped more than a few who failed it more than once. Not every person gets it right the first time, and has been said NUMEROUS times, the skill level of players varies widely. More than one of them was lost at the very start and had no idea what the hell to do or where to go.

Even a basic " I think i saw something interesting to the northeast" would have helped.

If I dropped you in the middle of 6 city blocks and told you to search for..something..what would you say?

    Where do I start looking?

    What am I looking for?

Alright, you have an objective "Reach Camp Broken Glass". You still have your map. You open it. The direction to your objective is south-southwest. If you start running in said direction from the starting location, while looking around, you will either stumble on the Functioning (but dry) Magitek Armor or the dying pilot of said armor. Now you get the quest and all what is left is to carefully scrounge the area for fuel. Hell, if you just ran around in this closed area, you have more than enough time to kill everything and search it from top to bottom entirely.

Now here is me. December 2021. It was 25 minutes back there. And yet, I had enough time to search the whole damn area, pay respect to dead soldiers, even checked the pilot who gave me the keys from the armor ("maybe I can give him a medkit and drag him out in gratitude?"). I didn't realised there was a "regen" buff item in the area until then.

Also, the mobs share the same behaviour like 99% of overworld mobs. If you are not in front of them, they cannot see you and aggro. So... sneak behind them and avoid majority of the fights. (Hello, Eureka)

I just used my brain, tools and knowledge I had from my first day in Final Fantasy 14. I wasn't a professional raider or anything.

And, as other posters said, there is an "Easy mode" if you failed the duty. Also, failing a duty conveniently resets the timer. And if you remember what you had to do from the previous run (I hope) - you are on your way to success.

But looks like nowadays simply using brain is the anxiety-inducing task. For once in the entire frigging MSQ there is no pointing arrow on people's screen and they are already in shambles. Speaks volumes about why normal difficulty is so braindead in XIV.

Said it better than me tbh, people like that are the reason why the content in this game is so bland and boring, the second anything with a minuscule level of difficulty (if you can even call it that) is implemented, people lose their minds and go into full panic attack because they dont have someone holding their hands, it's wild honestly
