All SE would have to do is change it so where you change to the classes like gladiator or whatever and then add in a skill system, where sword is highest on gladiator and axe is highest on marauder, etc. I would be in favor of such a system.

That doesn't make sense to allow the current classes to use all weapons because the naming nomenclature is designed to be specific to the weapon.

Gladiator = Gladius + Ator = Latin: Sword User
Archer = Arcus + -er = Latin: Sword User
Marauder = French : Frank Axe Warrior of pre-Medieval France. (Francisca was their favored weapon which got its name because they were the Franks who used them. This also is where France got its name.)
Pugilist = Pugil + -ist = Latin: One who fights with Fists.
Lancer = Lancea + -er = Latin: Lance User

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Don't care if it doesn't make sense, I just want it to be fun.

Yeah, I'd still prefer Classic Job names be implemented in a Title Fashion that stacks ontop of the Armoury system but doesn't replace it. Each job title giving access to 5 "Core Skills" that are not present currently for that job and can only be used by that job title being active. (Steal for Thief Etc.)

Then let the armoury system maintain the "Weapons Classes" and implement new weapons as new classes that give access to new groups of skills that allow you to flesh out job titles more and more.

Edited your post to what I'm pretty sure the devs will do.

We know that the "classes" are just names for a type of weapon user and that is the problem ><

I want weapons and jobs separate. Make it so thats weapons give you weapons skills and then actual jobs. So for example I can be CON as my class and still have full affinity as a CON have my AOE and all skills and abilities that come with CON but if I wanted I could equip a sword as my primary attack weapon and have the weapon skill's from the sword only. So I could still AOE nuke albeit slightly less than with a stave as they have extra stats for magic buffs, but not to the degree like it is now.

Currently if I equip a sword and then equipped everything from the CON skillset I would still be nothing like a CON with a sword as a weapon and if I got invited to a party people would expect me to tank as I would be a GLA. That is why I want proper job/classes that aren't defined by the weapon they wield.
