what's sad is that even ff11 has turned old level 75 cap fights into new level 99 instanced fights where you can choose the difficulty and get more rewards in your loot pool the higher the difficulty you choose. we could use something like that in ff14So because some people dont find the content fun it shouldnt exist ? I'm not sure I understand your point, because if it's going to be that way, I am not sure why we have any content at all even in FF, there are people who dislike it anyway and dont find it fun so why have it at all ? Let's all just sit in limsa and do nothing
the exageration aside, my point stands, if this is a basis for content that some people will dislike it, then nothing will ever change and we'll keep getting the same mediocre content that barely lasts a week and that people repeat over and over again not for fun, but out of boredom and to keep busy because the game has nothing else than that.
WTF ? Why didn't they add that already ?
Consider this. Say they add more Eureka/Bozja content and that's all they add to keep players busy until the next expansion. And so now a segment of the playerbase does not have lasting content they can enjoy. They come to the forums and provide feedback that they feel content is light. What would you tell them? Sit down, shut up, and enjoy what you get? But you're not satisfied when others are saying the same to you in this thread. So because some people dont find the content fun it shouldnt exist ? The point is that we have choice in the content that we engage with. It may not be our cup of tea and we can certainly give the developers that feedback. But they have to consider the entire playerbase with these choices. Give one segment every wish they ever desired and someone is going to be left out. I do feel they could focus more on content that has wider appeal and would be lasting for a wider audience, but that's still going to turn some off. So it's up to us at some point to either decide we've engaged with what we want, or find a goal/reward that we want to pursue to keep ourselves engaged with the game.
That's why I am "advocating" for both content that is long lasting, and content that is short lasting for people who dont play much, or are just too busy with irl, or just prefer to come to FFXIV, play the content and then go back to playing other gamesConsider this. As of right now, all there is is short lasting content
I dont understand why it cant be both, why does it have to be only long lasting or short lasting, what about... why not both ?

Take the relics. I am in the camp that would like more specific objectives. I don't want them too limited (the timeworn step) but this current iteration feels a bit broad to me. So I bring that feedback about it to SE where I can.
But I can't deny that it is content that we can make as long lasting or short lasting as we want to. We can pursue one relic or some relics or all the relics. We can choose the method we gain our tomestones. So in the context of the larger playerbase it is something we have the power to make long lasting or short lasting and the design has more widespread accessibility. I've seen people on the forums here and other places in social media who are very happy with this step. It's not my personal cup of tea design wise so I'll get my relics fairly quickly (I already have 9) and then either choose to engage with something else or meader my way to other games here and there.
You have to keep in mind that Striker doesn't actually do current content, he only does old content. Thus he will not understand where you're coming from as he still has 'years of content' backlogged for him.2nd "for me", I am not alone in this game, and putting challenging content for likeminded people that are like me is not going to deny people that have no time to put in the game from doing their usual savage raiding or ultimate, you can have both content for people that barely play the game, and for people that play the game a lot, one doesnt have to go without the other, you can pick a good balance for the people that want a challenge, and those who just want to breeze through the entire game.
Right now is not a balance, its easy to breeze through everything, and that's all there is, there is zero challenge, and that's also why the content gets abandoned less than a week after a patch drops, because it's simply not fun and people would rather play other games.
You can literally get 1500 tomestones in 2 hours by doing hunt trains, you seem to be under the idea that slowing yourself down on purpose somehow makes it challenging or interesting, it really isnt, also "challenging for who ?" for the people that want a challenge ? who else ?Long lasting for who though?

I mean I guess that makes sense yeah, if you dont do current content and you slow yourself down to extremes, then you will indeed have infinite content because you are slowing down content consumption extremely, by literally doing nothing or barely anything at all

At the moment I am doing the suggested grind of Splendorous Tools. This is just hitting macros for several hours after putting every item in a Garland data/teamcraft list and eventually a shiny main hand happens. The hardest part is remembering to re-up food if it falls off in between 30 crafts. I do like the tools at least, they are very pretty. I love the frying pan and am glad I did it first. This sadly is only finite and for how easy it is to macro isn't really lasting content.
The best part of it being people will argue it can be obtained a variety of ways. You can literally get 1500 tomestones in 2 hours by doing hunt trains, you seem to be under the idea that slowing yourself down on purpose somehow makes it challenging or interesting, it really isnt, also "challenging for who ?" for the people that want a challenge ? who else ?
There's the good ways and the "so slow you might as well just make a zodiac weapon because even that would be more interesting" Which leaves...roulettes and hunt trains, or pvp spam if you're still going for the series reward. All of which you would be doing ordinarily every day anyway for the rewards because it's...ya know, only obtainable through tomes.
Spamming Expert roulette isn't fun because there's literally only TWO dungeons in it. And the only dungeons that give this tome currency are Endwalker capstone dungeons.
Eureka and Bozja made obtaining them engaging because you were at least engaging in zones that actually felt like a threat to the player since story mode content is laughably easy, both of which people STILL go back and interact with. Had systems like logos and lost actions. Had multiple kinds of rewards (lockboxes might be rng hell but it was an incredibly good incentive because of rare drops. Bozjan lockboxes even brought weapon glams into them), and even outside of relics have goals for you to accomplish (Baldesion Arsenal upgrading Elemental gear, or hell even just getting your Elemental armor at all. *This isn't mentioning that BOTH Eureka and Bozja had upgradable gear that made you more powerful in those zones* and Bozja took another layer to this with proofs of mettle upgrading your damage, health, and healing output). Both have methods for you to get gil (bunny fates, lockboxes despite the rng, cluster farms)
But yeah, sure bro, relics being a glorified tome weapon is better than that type of content.
