Garlond GL-IS pricing: how is no one talking about this?

We can play whatever we want, but the OST is part of an entertainment.
For example, a movie: we say "that's a good movie, I like the movie" because the story is good, the actors are good, the sceneries are breathtaking, but it's the soundtrack that connects you emotionally to the movie.

If someone was making a similar argument on the basis of just liking the mount, I could at least understand that more. Like, yeah, it is a cool mount, or you earned this mount, so it makes you happy to use it, but as far as the mount music specifically.. again, you can literally just put on an ost.

You can already see cash shop items being more desirable than their counterpart. If you feel like buying it, more power to you, but don't insult everybody else's intelligence. There is more than enough examples from other games and XIV's only got worse over the last few years.

Nobody's intelligence was insulted. The only insult here has been consumers called paypigs and whales for spending their own money. Treated like it's a morality issue to purchase anything off the cash shop ever. So if anyone has ever bought something off the store, "they are screwing the community over", and that is a ridiculous notion.

The game is in a bad spot. Nobody is disagreeing with that. But taking it out on cash shop customers is nothing more than schadenfreude.

How is it making it worse? Unless they've released new info, we've been told in the past that it's an entirely different team that does shop items. So there's no guarantee these mounts would even exist without the cash shop.
If you don't like seeing the mounts because you want it but don't wanna spend the money, I can get that for sure.

The fact that they are a different team is irrelevant in that case, what i mean by "worse" is that it de-incentivize making the game better and investing resources in it to do so if they can rely more and more on the mogstation for income. It's a matter of optimizing the number, do the bare minimum put people on other project, monitor how it goes try to push the limit little by little and if the revenue metrics are still up even if they lose a few players here and there, that's all good.

That's how i see the cash shop success impacting negatively on the game.

Now i might be wrong and maybe 7.0 will be the best expansion FF14 ever had but right now i feel like the last year and a half have been quite underwhelming even after taking a lot of break.

Bold of you to assume I can afford to throw away $37 USD on a virtual bicycle.

Seems many had it for D4, then they pikachuface when Blizzard pulls the rug from under them with patches that ruins any balance and make battlepasses that just short of pay themselves, so you have to buy extra currency to cover the cost for the next one.

The Shadow Wolf should the biggest tell that its a detriment to the game.

Now this "second team" can pull models straight out of the game to resell them to you for up to 20$ or more, and you don't see how that could be a hinderance to the game going forward now that that precedent is set?
This excuse kinda (still iffy) works for brand new models not ever seen in the game, but ones ALREADY in the game..?
Should you just expect any cool things that make you say "that would be a cool mount" to at some point be in the shop at a later point instead of earnable in game?

To make the Shadow Wolf worse, it would have been a perfect BLU achievement mount, it made perfect sense, SO much sense the scenario that plays out in my head behind Squares closed doors is that they planned on making it a BLU achievement but figured they would get away with slapping it on the cash shop and earn extra money cause why not?

The music Shadow Wolf plays is not BLU nor Eden related when I noticed it on ffxivcollect, that was the tell that this ain't BLU mount.

I do hope you're wrong on that.
I think the issues with this expansion is more around the fact they are tuning the early game instead of focusing all on new content.
We'll see once 7.0 comes out.

The implication Effort -> Satisfaction is not -so true-.
For example, doing the latest savage you win the mount at the first kill (kill -> roll 99 -> yay whistle). Does this make the mount less desirable than doing 100 tokens? do you pass if the whistle drop because you would lose satisfaction?
In real life, if you inherit a nice house, do you feel the house of less value because you did not have to pay mountains of debts?

I think that it's reasonable you don't, we don't need to do the hard way to feel we achieved something.
The way we earned something, the "suffering" does not make the item more desirable. The value is a bond between the item and us, in a more subtle way than the sweat we dropped.

To explain better what I wrote before, you can use youtube, you can play a LP vinyl, but the interaction between "the game" and "the song" is different. It's not like I ride the mount and go afk for an infinite loop of the song, I do "things" "dismount" -> do something -> "mount" maybe change mount because I'm bored of that music for today...
