Garlond GL-IS pricing: how is no one talking about this?

I'm not reading this as your essays are usually mostly word bloat and I guarantee that you could make your argument with a quarter or less of the words you used.

I'll just reiterate my point. Looking at FFXIV Collect, we got 12 mounts between 6.4 and 6.45. Sounds like a lot right? However, there's a really big asterisk there.

- Four of them are recolors/reskins of existing mounts that are VERY similar (three mandragonas and an extreme mount)
- Two of them are upscales of existing mobs (the buffalo and the supporter, not counting Shadowkeeper)
- Two of them are mogstation mounts (the bike and shadowkeeper)

This means that we got a grand total of four mounts that do not fit into these catagories. Thus, it is important that when comparing the amount of new mogstation content to the amount of new in-game content, that we do not pretend like a recolor/reskin is of the same quality as a mount like the new bike.

Here's your TLDR:

If the cash shop mounts are the good stuff, why do their owners mostly stop using them after a couple of weeks and go back to mounts they had earned through game play?

Cruise Chaser is the only mount from the cash shop that seems to show up often in the open world months after it was added.

For the same reason that there were a gazillion Sunforges at large gatherings like hunt trains when Abyssos was relevant, and why there's a bunch of axolotls now. People use new rare or hard to get items so they can flex that they have it. This is a pretty common and well known behavior in MMOs. Once that item isn't considered 'prestigious' (at least to the people that actually care) or a new 'prestigious' item exists, they swap to something else. (and if you think this behavior is stupid, I agree, but that doesn't mean that people don't do it)

Can't you just play a YouTube video though? I have had mount music turned off for several years now.

We can play whatever we want, but the OST is part of an entertainment.
For example, a movie: we say "that's a good movie, I like the movie" because the story is good, the actors are good, the sceneries are breathtaking, but it's the soundtrack that connects you emotionally to the movie.

We're talking about a slightly faster 2-seater mount that costs 32€.

The previous mount to have the speed boost was SDS Fenrir, which costs 24€. Does that extra seat really warrant the additional 8€ cost? If so, then why does the 8-seater Lunar Whale only cost 33€? What kind of alien logic does the price ramp use here?

How is it making it worse? Unless they've released new info, we've been told in the past that it's an entirely different team that does shop items. So there's no guarantee these mounts would even exist without the cash shop.
If you don't like seeing the mounts because you want it but don't wanna spend the money, I can get that for sure.

People not buying off the mog station isn't going to magically improve the quality of ingame items. If anything it wouldn't exist in either space. No content in game and nothing on the store. It's an entirely separate team that makes the shop products. It's not going to suddenly increase resources for ingame content by removing the store.

You can already see cash shop items being more desirable than their counterpart. If you feel like buying it, more power to you, but don't insult everybody else's intelligence. There is more than enough examples from other games and XIV's only got worse over the last few years.
