You know when I made this I knew that people were going to be negative but damn some of you are like beyond frustrated with the game at the moment. Like the Devs should do something about this, and I don't mean ban you guys or anything like that but like how did they let things get this bad. Like I barely use the forums since I first bought ARR when it released. Though I do admit now that I think about it I was part of the Beta but it did take me a couple of months to save enough to buy the game.
That's besides the point. I see a clear issue here. Lack of communication from the Devs part. Something I did not know about until now if I do say so myself. I remember that the Devs would post here at least once a week. I can't say I've seen anything like it while lurking the forums this past week.
I'm going to go back and play FFXIV, but reading everyones responses have gotten me thinking... but also worrying... but mostly thinking! I may or may not lurk on this thread, and the forums. But I think I got everything I could get from this thread tbh. I wish you all a good night.
No way they are phasing out ps4 support at 7.0, they already said they wanted to but the pandemic and shortages screwed that up. Not enough PS5s are out there and thus, PS4 end if support will be with 8.0 in early 2027.
If it's any consolation, consider that most of the negative criticism is indication that there is a desire for improvement, rather than just a desire for a vindictive reckoning. There are a few people who would say that the negative criticism has to be worded to their own specifications to "count as criticism," but as long as the negativity is expressed in any way, the expression still remains as "this needs/could use improvement" regardless of whatever literary coherency there may or may not be.
So at least there's that.
It's just that there's more and newer voices with this expression of malcontent, so it's becoming more glaring that things have either been pushed back too much or backburners are getting way too crowded, if there's any actual desire to bring things up to really cook.
In my opinion, 7.0 will not bring any radical gameplay changes because they will just be focusing on the graphics update and engine updates related to graphics (which I can't bring myself to think will be some massively substantial upgrade if we're retaining PS4 compatibility, unless they're willing to make a system that allows minimal upgrades for the PS4 version while implementing bigger upgrades for other versions); so all this time waiting in hopes of improved gameplay is wasteful, for those who are. The latest I see any major gameplay changes happening is 8.0, unless they decide to really work harder on XIV and begin changing up the gameplay mid-expansion (which I doubt), and in the meantime I see them trying to increase the ease of play for jobs that they deem are too complicated (AST/DRG).
Who’s ready for the last shred of complexity of healers to be ripped out in favour of WHM 4.0If it's any consolation, consider that most of the negative criticism is indication that there is a desire for improvement, rather than just a desire for a vindictive reckoning. I wish I could believe otherwise but Yoshi-P was surprised by his own admission that people wanted more stubble/beard options for male characters...something that has been requested as a character customisation option as far back as ARR.
There's a lot of similar situations.
He was very dismissive towards the concerns expressed by healer focused players and even lore related questions have him quip in surprise that people...pay attention to the story in a game that openly pushes itself as a story focused game.
You mean to tell me that Naoki Yoshida is becoming like Akira Toriyama of forgetting his own lore?
I just can't anymore with this developer.
I'll be a little fair when you have a gameworld with a very large amount of lore that it is hard to keep track of everything, but he has left some loose ends that have been loose ends since 2.0.
Specifically something like Gelmorra.
