The Devs Listen to Us

I do agree they can be a bit more communicative. But job changes have always happened and we forget that there have been good job changes.

The good changes EW have made when it comes to jobs pale in comparison to the awful that they honestly feel like flukes more than anything. I don't have any reason to trust the devs anymore with job design. They eradicate playstyles, they make decisions against the best interests of its players and alienate said players by removing more and more avenues of skill expression. I am grateful for the very few good changes they do, but for every 1 good decision they make, they'll do 3 horrible ones as well.

Like I said Healers have been in a bad place for a long time but I'm sure that's because of FFXVI being developed by the same team that develops FFXIV. Its going to get better. We can continue to voice our opinions, I don't think its wrong to voice them. But I don't think saying that they aren't listening to us is going to make the game suddenly better, its just hurting ourselves and making us feel negative. Like I said a community post or something about them knowing that Healers are in a bad place could alleviate that. I know they are as much at fault for all our doomposting as we are, but we have to at least catch ourselves before we spiral and become overly toxic. We all love this game that's why we're here. That's why were making all of these posts.

Sure, I mean despite all the bitching and moaning I do, here I am, coming back to post on the forums every week or so. I agree that complaining that we're just screaming into a void isn't productive, but it really does feel like that's the predicament we're in right now. It's up to SE to re-establish a connection otherwise the divide between the dev's and the players' interests will only grow further apart. Will they actually do that? I don't know, but something does need to happen.

I have a lot of respect for MrHappy because he understands the game like I do and he doesn't have hot takes like most of the community. They are fair and balanced and that's what I prefer.

But the majority of people watching his videos probably don't visit these forums, so when I see a relative new poster around here using talking points from recent youtube videos I wonder if that's what prompted them to post.

Yes, but do you honestly think they are going to translate most of the garbage on the English forums? The only thing I remember is that they translate the 10 most popular topics. They should just use Google translate.

I'm not the least bit frustrated. I'm just being honest with you. It's especially important to be honest with someone who seems new around here, so that they understand the forums better. Most of us have been around here for years. All the people who were like you, became like the people replying to you now.

You should know that I'm one of the most positive people on these forums. That should tell you a lot. I try to be fair and defend the developers, whilst also being fair if something is an issue.

You know when I made this I knew that people were going to be negative but damn some of you are like beyond frustrated with the game at the moment. Like the Devs should do something about this, and I don't mean ban you guys or anything like that but like how did they let things get this bad. Like I barely use the forums since I first bought ARR when it released. Though I do admit now that I think about it I was part of the Beta but it did take me a couple of months to save enough to buy the game.

That's besides the point. I see a clear issue here. Lack of communication from the Devs part. Something I did not know about until now if I do say so myself. I remember that the Devs would post here at least once a week. I can't say I've seen anything like it while lurking the forums this past week.

I'm going to go back and play FFXIV, but reading everyones responses have gotten me thinking... but also worrying... but mostly thinking! I may or may not lurk on this thread, and the forums. But I think I got everything I could get from this thread tbh. I wish you all a good night.

Outside of some trolls ousting themselves and people writing copium and cringe which makes me die a little inside because hearing those words makes me question their intelligence at times. There is clear issues that haven’t been resolved in the game where the community has been asking for change for quite some time. Now whether this is a case of the devs not communicated along the lines of ‘the reason we ain’t doing it is because it isn’t the direction we want to take the game’ I don’t know but it would be nice to even get that then wondering if it’s that or if they are just being ignorant to the problem.

For me I don’t have many issues with the game outside of certain job designs and some longevity on a couple pieces of content. They can be addressed but it’s a matter of when. I just want to see what 7.0 brings and whether if this is a continuation or if this is a new beginning so to speak, hey can we get like a wow cataclysm not content wise but a world redesign lol.

That's quite literally one of the responses that was given to the oft-repeated and longstanding criticism of how shallow healers are in ShB/EW. "We know some healers wish for a return of Heavensward complexity but we will not be going in that direction."

In other words, they want healers to remain the easy role that your baby brother can pick up and feel like he's helping, and to hell with the veterans and long-time subscribers who notice that they're not really needed and are unhappy with it.

I can tell you that it was not, in fact, nice to hear.

I’m somehow both surprised and completely unsurprised that people in the 14 community don’t realise that basically being told to get lost with your feedback after your beloved job was ripped to shreds doesn’t feel any better because the devs decided to say “we are going in a different direction” rather than just ignoring us entirely

An update with Viera and Hroth Hats:

Have they ever actually said they would work on hats for either? Last I heard was when they released saying they would have no hats, but some devs worked off the clock to get a few working. Nothing since then, so I was under the impression it would never happen. Like they said.

So did they change their minds, or is it still "Here's two races you all begged for, but no hats."

Yes, they definitely said they heard the "3.0 job design" arguments but are happy with the 5.0 design and wanted to continue it in Endwalker.

Realistically, I don't think the design could ever be 3.0 again, because 4.0 is when we got job gauges and had some of the worst clunkyness removed. But they don't want to do 4.0 design either.
