What is Dark knight for now that War just does everything better?

Jobs get stronger and weaker in different patch cycles. Get used to it. WAR got dunked on for the last few tiers so it is about time it got some love. Is it overtuned? Slightly yes but that's just the nature of the beast. DRK can still clear all the content so who really cares?

Next tier there will be more balance changes and things will change again. Look at PLD, PLD was the most technical Tank for a while and it's damage sucked, but that's just the way it was. PLD could still clear the content both Savage and Ultimate so it doesn't matter.

Stop worrying about numbers and just have fun with the game. Personally DRK died for me after Stormblood anyway.

The term "JRPG" has only existed because of particular, often-enjoyed traits that have distinguished them from other forms of RPG (your Biowares, Bethesdas, THQs, etc.).

That is not true. It has for very long been used in a derogatory way, which is why many japanese rpg devs do not like having their games called JRPGs at all. Yoship even did an interview on this exact point, it's very interesting to read.

Overall the term is falsely used because it doesnt mean what it says. It's not even a useful term. We have games branded as jrpgs that share very little game play wise with each other. At times it's based on aesthetic, at times it's based on gameplay, at times it's based on region of origin. Whatever the user of the term wants to imply (many times negatively, like we even have in this thread).

Thus far, you're the only one here insisting that entire genre must be reduced to a race thing (let alone that liking Berserk must = "weeb"... which, no, does not mean merely a Nipponophile).

Which, if you were right, would historically be an outlier, as French AG hasn't actually been limited to films from France, German Modern Philosophy hasn't been solely from Germany (nor even the lands that would later lie within its borders), "Hong Kong Cinema" has had named influence/inspiration outside of HK or even China, etc., etc. Instead, those terms tend to focus on what traits actually describe the character and qualities of the work itself, with the point of origin for a school of thought/design simply being a tangential shorthand to that. They aren't nearly so uselessly reductive as you would make them out to be.

At the very least... Dark Knight have way cooler glam options than Warrior which typically has them running around half naked in their job sets nowadays. Big Sword cool too.

Then there's Shadowbringers that just didn't feel "right" unless you played it as a Dark Knight.

I don't know, I felt more "Right" in SHB on WAR. Those heart to heart moments with Ardbert felt more...special, cause I was a fellow Warrior. There's other stuff, but that's going into things I'd rather not spoil.

As for glams...I honestly think all tanks have both good and bad sets. I'm hoping they give us a 'retrain' of the Brutal Visor soon. To have it with the new metal textures they use. (I still don't like them. Bleh.)

They'll buff DRK decently....once they add yet another effect to Shake It Off. My guess is an Expedience-like effect. They can even call it Walk It Off.

No, it really isn't. They destroyed the HW and SB versions of DRK, so anybody who liked those versions of it don't have anything similar in the game to go to. DRK is not for people who like playing it, DRK is for the devs to destroy and to throw a few of its mechanics into something else. Reprisal and Low Blow were originally from DRK. Camouflage was originally from DRK (Dark Dance, changed into Anticipation). Eukrasia was originally from DRK (Dark Arts).
