You could play ESO where they release 2 dungeons and you are done both in less than one hour, and then that's it for the quarter lol.- MSQ done
- Pandemonium done
- New Dungeon done
- New Trial done
- Island Sanctuary Level 15,5, all Buildings Upgraded + all Quests done
- New Craftable Gear 4 Jobs done, Materials for the last 3 Gears already farmed
- Frontline Series Level 11
This is way to less content for 4 Months, in 2 Months we get for Blue Mages some new Spells + 10 Levels, Manderville Weapon upgrade and that's all for the next 4 Months?
I swear if 7.0 brings not a fat chunk of Story + more Content then I will be sad and mad. Even WoW has more content right now.

Comparing entertainment products in the same genre is entirely valid. You do this all the time when you want to talk about how other MMOs do things better than XIV. You regularly talk about other MMOs in fact.
But I knew you'd respond with something petty once I saw your character's face in the comment. Kind of used to how you post by now so a big meh.

It would make more sense if ESO was a p2p mmo and not a b2p mmo thats constantly thrown away for 10 bucks on steam. Go compare it to WoW and FF14 content looks like a bad joke. And even then - im playing THIS game not another game. I dont care if another game is good, bad or equal. I want THIS game to be the best it can be and not have people like you defend it at every step.Comparing entertainment products in the same genre is entirely valid. I don't play ESO - But I'm gonna assume that ESO probably designs dungeons to actually be repeatable. Is that possibly the truth? Because I don't know many other MMOs that design dungeons to be thrown away like XIV.
Not many people just play 1 MMO as their game of choice 24/7, most of us don't. The problem is when you have to pay a monthly fee for something that can't even keep up with the entertainment value of most other monthly fee things these days. I get more out of Netflix than I do XIV, and at least it has voice acting and plotlines. lolI think the old school thought of sticking to just one game and demanding it retains you is pretty much a terrible thing at the end of the day. I'm saying this because I'm actually starting to feel it, and I know I'm not the only one, nor was I ever the first one. Its easy to forget the lessons we learned from past MMOs when you have it so gosh dang easy with a game that has a short and clear "end" to its content.
Imagine if Netflix used FOMO systems and held your assets hostage unless you stayed subbed, then you get bored of the new releases but you're still tied down.
.. Also, I'm not talking about things to mindlessly grind. I'm talking about entertainment.

Yeah but to a lot of people, each one has their own reasons for staying subbed. Heck Stormpeaks even proves my point with despite how much she despises the game itself, she finds value in its housing. The secret to an MMO retaining a player is to give them just a single reason for staying in the game, rather than having multiple reasons. I was mad at this game for the lack of lasting retention...but then I realized, it doesnt NEED to retain me, I already have my reasons that make my sub worth it (which is my love for my characters and their stories, the msq and that its an MMO FF game).I don't play ESO - But I'm gonna assume that ESO probably designs dungeons to actually be repeatable. If people are arguing about lacking reasons to pay the sub, then obviously means to stop playing and move on from it. Not everyone is going to feel the same way as you do, nor everyone is going to feel the same way as I do. If you want to play more FFXIV...then play more FFXIV then. If you did everything you wanted to do in the game then thats it, find other ways to play the game. This is a bad example I'm going to throw out but why do you think Classic WoW has a lot of retention. You see people playing the game multiple ways, not because the content itself retains them...Blizzard isnt pumping out fresh content for a 19 year old game, but because they "like" the game, they find their own fun. I say its a bad example because FFXIV clearly doesnt have the same level of depth as that game does, but even when I play older games, I still make multiple playthroughs and try to do things differently because the game itself is fun to play. It didnt need a live service for my enjoyment. The reason we pay a sub for FFXIV is because of the fact that it does update, (also server service but whatever) and if the game is still enjoyable for me to play, then I continue playing.
Also Netflix and MMOs are two different things in entertainment, you cant just use that analogy to compare paying a live service because of how those systems work.
Analogy isn't perfect, but the feeling is all the same to me tbh.If people are arguing about lacking reasons to pay the sub, then obviously means to stop playing and move on from it. You have a point with WoW - It's easier to make your own fun over there, unless it has to do with housing. So where WoW allows more engaging self-made content, XIV provides avenue for environmental self-made content. I wish we had both..
So the problem with XIV locking housing out from people with FOMO, makes it even worse. If everyone had the ability to have a full house, or their own island instance with inside/outside furnishing + garden.. We'd be in a better place.
Watching the Savage World Race, they were talking with a WoW player about the type of content WoW players make for themselves, and how they can be competitive in their own way, like dungeon running. But admitted that things like that are basically impossible with XIV. The best we can do is maybe POTD races, and of course Savage / Ultimate.

I would actually say ESO has the worst dungeons I have ever experienced in an MMO. There are a number of reason why I dislike them, but mostly because of how their quests work. Putting full quest featuring important characters into dungeons when the community just speed rushes and burns anyone who wants to actually listen and appreciate the story is mindlessly stupid and why they keep doing it is beyond me. I would say the FFXIv ones are more replayable, for gear you can actually use, tokens, and even minion farming. ESO you only need to do them if a Pledge comes up, and even then much of the dungeon side of the game is ignorable.

ESO DUngeons are less repeatable. Once you have the items you want from them you have no reason to go. Some dungeons don't even have items you want at all (most of them really given only a few sets are even used in that game).
