I'm pretty sure most view FFXIV as a Final Fantasy game first, and an MMO second. Just about everything is gated behind MSQ progression. I'm not sure why anyone would consider this out of the norm. Perhaps for an MMORPG, but definitely not for a Final Fantasy game.SE is aiming for a wider audience than typical MMORPG players. It's a different normal than before, but one that ensures that players who are in the game for the Final Fantasy, and not the MMORPG, can more easily complete the MSQ.
You could level up through the entirety of World of Warcraft over the years without ever touching a dungeon instance or playing in a group with other people. Same for most MMORPGs over the last 20 years. FFXIV is the only game that requires a player to engage in group play in order to level up.
That doesnt mean you should literally encourage players to play with NPC's instead of actual humans in a facebook post about the upcoming patch

Hold on, did I ever state that I liked Zenos at all? Secondly I like how you couldn't "debunk" anything I said before that and laser focused on one thing lol.
You then proceed to baselessly call me a simp for...an assumption you've made about me. Regardless of how any of us feel Zenos IS indeed our foil. You don't have to like it, but the facts are the facts

I think Metion being shoehorned into the story at the last minute was worse than Zenos ever was. I really wish he had remained dead in Stormblood however I can see his overall purpose as the WoL's foil. He had a little bit of growth in EW which was good but I don't really think the story needed him for it to be told as it was.

Perhaps. The game itself encourages it due to how heavily involved the NPCs are in the story. Take Troja for example, and how odd it would for Varshahn to not be part of the group. However, I do wish the trust system allowed for a buddy or two, and it just fills in the gaps.

Yes Zenos should have died midway expansion and we should have fought a proper version of Zodiark

A "proper" Zodiark fight would never happen. Did yall forget his power was split or something? The story is very clear on this.
Also how exactly should Zenos have died? Who would've beaten him? And with his departure how would we be able to chase The Endsinger?

Better idea....Zodiark was the Final Boss and at Full power in Vanilla Endwalker in the 1st arc. With Fandaniels big Super secret cool plan being the plot and being further explored in the 2nd arc
Us Killing Zodiark so early and not even at full power after being all hyped up for several years actually hurt the game abit....even if Fandaniels big twist was kind of cool and fun....we were still robed of several years of buildup....Zenos still existing has no effect on that.
Honestly it could have happened....but only if Endwalker was pushed back 10 years, and if the Ascians succeeded in Joining the other worlds.
Man imagine the story if we constantly failed.
10 more years of Ascians..no thank you lol. Can you imagine? Every Scion would have a turn at pretending to be in league with them.Better idea....Zodiark was the Final Boss and at Full power in Vanilla Endwalker in the 1st arc. You realize it's entirely possible to do the first time with Trusts so you can go at your pace and read things and take in the environment and then do those again with people in roulettes, right? And they're presenting Trusts as an option not the only path. The whole idea is being able to do the story by yourself or with friends and it's up to us which we prefer. The optional content still requires playing with others including things like daily roulettes.
