How does being told to grind out Level 90 or Alliance Raid roulette 15 times make for a better relic weapon stage than being told to purchase 3 of X item for 500 tomestones each?

In the case of MrHappy's example of tomestones being okay as one option of multiple to complete a stage, which of the above methods would you have picked given the choice?

Doing the roulettes would result in the tomestones needed but you wouldn't be able to use the tomestones to purchase other items. If you needed the tomestones to buy something (such as crafting materials for end game gear), you'd actually have to do more content that the roulette option would require you to do. You've been given reason to play the game more.

Now story-wise I agree this relic chain feels kind of cheap. How convenient that Rowena's rep just happens to already have exactly what we need to get.

Is that maybe the real difference this time? The other relic chains did make it feel like some sort of quest/adventure for us to get what was needed to craft those increasingly powerful weapons. There's no adventure or mystery to this one and that's why it feels uninteresting.

My apologies then. I would question why the game never had this issue in that run then though. I had taken small breaks here and there before but now I am finding myself just logging in to keep my house and to play with a dear friend of mine who can't play much other stuff as Playstation locked at the moment due to no computer. I hope that also answers Boblawbla's question.

Also I didn't find leveling any of this time consuming, I just leveled via Wondrous Tails/ Tribal quests on a lot of my jobs and PvP for series rank.

I'm not sure - I don't know your play style but maybe you enjoyed some of the relic grinds and related content? I am sorry the game is losing it's luster for you and I do hope it releases content you enjoy. It seems like overall you do care for the game and are just looking for it to keep your interest and enjoyment.

And even though I am generally happy with XIV, I feel the same way even towards posters I haven't gotten along with. I do like seeing people happy and enjoying themselves in the gaming communities I am in, and do support suggestions to increase that enjoyment even if it seems I don't.

For sure. Many of us saw the writing on the wall a long time ago, even more in ShB, but it took until Endwalker for people to really start noticing. If things continue, it will only get worse with each further expansion.

Relic is certainly part of it I admit but Endwalker in general just lost my interest largely. I found faults in EW's story and patch story and then looked at what was left for me and have found it also lacking. I did play alts in the past but almost everyone I would have leveled with quit over dissatisfaction with jobs or the lack of content.

I am sorry to hear, but thank you for sharing your thoughts with such calmness even while you are disappointed in things presently. It is possible they overextended themselves with XVI as others on the forums suggested, and hope things pick up for 7.0.

I feel like part of the issue with the patch story is that...well, we were told it wouldn't link to where we're going. Meaning it's essentially filler arc, and just the trial series story. If this game was an anime, the first series would have ended with 6.0, this story would be a small OVA series with Pandaemonium being a full blown movie.

I'm seen people here consider her and others such as Mr happy shills and paid by SE so they only have positive things to say.

They are kind of shills. Shill is a little harsh though, they are promoter/ambassadors. I think some online games actually pay streamers to do this. I remember reading a few articles about it. In the past Mr Happy has gotten special access hasn't he? So for them to turn on FF14 is not a good sign. It is in their best interest to keep their mouth shut and move on. I don't begrudge them promoting the game in a positive light. I will read negative reviews on steam and see if those things might bother me. If nothing is a real red flag then I read a few positive and try the game.

6.0 story had too much on the plate, yet they put bland filler in 6.X patches. This is obviously in hindsight, but damn, there is so many ways EW story could be resolved better. 6.0 could be actual Hydaelyn vs Zodiark story, where Zodiark wasn't lame ass puppet, and Hydaelyn wasn't just a Shell V-Power 97. Then 6.X could be dealing with Final Days, Meteion and Zenos. But instead, we got this weird dynamic with 3.5 antagonists, where Meteion felt as if she turned to the darkside 5 minutes after we met her, and Zenos was being artificially pushed back all the way until the end.
