What lore do you ignore?

Because I really didn't vibe with Endwalker, I don't feel so involved in the lore anymore so anything goes. But I do kind of interpret the whole Elpis episode otherwise, rather than a "time travelling adventure", I sort of imagine it is Elidibus showing us what happened, and we had no actual involvement there. Like we had a VR headset and that's it.

I imagine that if they had done 2 expansions like originally plan, the entire Elpis episode would have been instead an entire expansion of multiple Ancient zones where we did not play as ourselves, but were instead controlling Azem (who would look like us on our end).
