    Are people really complaining about the loot, is gated because it needs to extend the content or people will no life it and be done in a week.

    If loot is your motivation instead of the actual raid experience than that's a you problem.

    You can honestly unsub now because you don't need loot to clear content. 6.4 will be released and you won't need the loot to clear it. BiS Is needed for Ultimate and there are no more ultimates this expansion, so you already beat the game if chasing loot from raids/tomes. Crafted all you need for 6.4 and current raid gear is trashed for it.

    Ackchyually... 6.5 dungeon will have BiS for ultimate, as it will max out ilvl of current savage weapon :>

    I wouldn't mind there being more sources of gear later on in the patch cycle, nor would I mind if the lockout for savage was removed during the next major patch. I would love to see alliance raids drop ilvl equivalent to the savage tier as both an alternate source of gear for savage raiders but also for the dopamine hit of getting that shiny upgrade from the raid for casuals. I guess I don't get the logic behind the ~8 month wait for the raid to be unlocked immediately before the next raid drops and how if you get unlucky in PF groups you can be waiting months to get fully geared on one job/role, let alone wanting to be geared on something else. Past the ~4 months of a patch cycle with the savage raid release I don't get why anyone would care if they made it easier for someone to gear up.

    That being said I am a casual player who really doesn't care about gearing my characters.

    End game loot is capped because the developers removed the time sink that existed in previous games that blocked players from getting endgame loot. I've played lots of MMOs where endgame loot was a matter of spending the time to farm lesser bosses to then spawn the bigger boss with the better loot. However, it would take dozens of hours to "prep" that. And these were all world-spawns - so you had to compete against dozens of other guilds/FCs to get the drop. You couldn't raid on your schedule. You had to raid on the schedule of when these enemies were going to spawn. And there was actual experience loss for when you inevitably died. And there was ridiculous travel time to get these areas.

    FFXIV removed all of that.

    Show up when you want to raid. No competition. No gil/experience loss. Enemies drop tokens that can be turned in for whatever loot you want... plus the bosses no longer drop trash. No more "oh look, yet another boots of maiming with skill speed for the no DRG/RPR in our group. You get a coffer, you open it and get the piece for whatever job you want. More loot for less time. This is the truth. And this is why it is locked behind a weekly schedule.

    I feel like one content patch after the one that introduced a raid should be enough to unlock its weekly cap. So for Abyssos that should've been 6.3. On release.

    Damn I'm literally shocked at some of the takes in this thread. Y'all are either brainwashed, don't want to believe the truth, or don't want others to know the truth.

    The truth: Square Enix doesn't want to risk the chance of having A SINGLE ONE OF THEIR PLAYERS unsubscribing from the game after they've maxed out their characters. Because if they unsubscribe, that means less money for them.

    So that's it, that's the legit reason - corporate greed. You can sugarcoat it with some other BS if you want.

    Also I love how there's so many replies who don't even bother explaining the actual reason. They just say "it's normal", or "other MMOs do it too".

    Not like majority plays only on launch of an expasion only. Playing on X.0 and then returning for X.4/5 -> Y.0 allows you to get all the content without delays, without wasting time on gear from in-between tiers and so on.

    No see, that's the real juicy bit to me, they are saying that seemly without realizing that every MMO that does it, does it for the same reason, no game want to lose players, even f2p games needs their free players so that their paying players have people to play with.

    Just because an issue became standard doesn't mean it isn't an issue.
