Never played WoW. Been playing XIV since HW. Used to main MCH and now maining the 2 button rotation WHM. I completely understand how job skills have been watered down and gotten mind-numbingly boring and easy. I was referring more to the general scope of posts you see on the forums nowadays about high-end content, ultimates, time between savages being dropped, twitch streamers using mods, etc. etc. etc. etc..... None of those things seemed to be such a high priority or discussed as aggressively/vehemently on the forums years ago.

But what do I know, I'm just here to RP and go fishing /shrug

It definitely is getting compacted even further, and I think because Endwalker is a carbon copy of Shadowbringers with less repeatable combat content, it's why people are getting frustrated. It's lack of combat content in general, because we basically replaced Bozja with Island Sanctuary. So then what else do you really use BiS on. Variant? It certainly does nothing for POTD. lool (I don't chase BiS anyway)

I'm a player like you describe, I haven't raided since Stormblood and I don't really care about chasing BiS anymore because I don't see the need with the current design philosophy.

High-end content and grind I'm pretty sure have always been a hot topic on the forums. You're right about Twitch and Mods, but that's because those are pretty new to XIV in general. Almost nobody ever streamed day 1 prog, and obviously the mod scene is very new. So I wouldn't so much as call it an exodus problem. But maybe some of the WoW players streaming their prog attempts pushed us a little further to start streaming more?

We're at a weird point where I think a lot of people look at gear and go "Why does this even exist anymore?" - Because SE could literally just implement a shitty linear borrowed power for each expac and it would be the same experience. Hell we could just turn it all into a Materia grind where all visual gear is just glam. Basically is already.

We also look at all of our classes and wonder why half of them even exist. We could cull them, add 1-2 of the abilities from that other class and it would be exactly the same.
