They said they play both. Both have positives and negatives. But some feel XIV has just a few more negatives in this current expac cycle for casual vets. It's not rocket surgery buddy.
Do you play other games? I bet you do. They don't have to be MMOs, but I bet you play something else and can make comparisons to some degree while also enjoying both.

I see it all the time too, pretty much everywhere FFXIV has a presence. Shills hate it when their game gets some criticism. Unless they can add something decent to a discussion, I generally just blank them.

It's funny, because the complete opposite is true for the WoW community. They've taken the differences and discuss them, and Blizzard has even implemented some of those changes. Like the custom GUI.
The general consensus from the WoW community is that XIV has a lot of great features, but is riddled with nothing-burger content, and the classes/delays/snapshots are bad in comparison.

It's actually a great thing that a bunch of players briefly quit WoW to play XIV. It kinda opened their eyes to new systems, and hopefully nudged Blizzard in the right direction to some degree.

I still wish they'd do away with the popcorn swirly danger spam though. I thought DF would have taken a better approach to mechanic display and maybe sharpened some of the vague random swirlies. If we can commend anything from XIV, it's that they do a wonderful job (most of the time) of making the boss mechanics very engaging and clear.

To me it feels like WoW has better underlying systems to allow for future growth as it currently stands. Where XIV I can see struggling to keep up moving forward. Even if we get an insane amount of content, we'll still struggle with the slow jank. I look forward to seeing what Yoshi does with 7.0+.

Eh, it's just another part of the MMO cycle. It's just your standard "just unsub, hater!" comment. You saw a lot of that back in 2012 in the WoW forums. Heck, you had comments like that when Lucian or whatever the moon expansion was called back in EQ since travel was a big part of that game and now you have a moonworld hub that just lets you teleport nearly anywhere you want regardless of faction. In a way, those sort of posts are cathartic, lol.

This +1,000. I more or less have been in stasis mode for FFXIV since Omega beast tribes. Didn’t hate what’s up…just I already basically leveled my gatherers..now with the rabbits I’ve already leveled my crafters…I have zero interest in endgame content so Savage/trials/raids are a “meh” for me…so……….

Doesn’t make FFXIV bad, just means I’ll come back after some content has built up that I like.

I’m currently delving back to my high school days and replaying Morrowind. And as much jank as there is, I am having a blast. Conan Exiles has a patch incoming. Minecraft has some stuff coming I can do with the kids. It’s not like anyone need be married to one game.

There is nothing wrong with comparing games, and playing other games. Honestly having flashbacks of elementary school where kids fought over which was better between SNES and the Genesis.

I feel like if there was some difficulty, or stats actually mattered more, if jobs had a job identity then I think it would be more exciting but after the story Endwalker is pretty bland now. I hope the next expac does better because if it continues like this I doubt many people will stay

It's just not gonna happen. These optimizations were 10 years in the making. Slowly gutted from ARR.

Yoshi is making no attempt at creating complex combat. Next expac, we might not even have combat tbh. lol

I don't play for the combat, but for those that do? They won't stick around.

If you think I survived this long playing while the combat/dungeons just gets worse and worse over the years, you're nuts. I basically just play the auction house. lol

It's funny how you think that's some sorta gotcha. You actually believe WoW players hopped over here and went "Woah, the rotations are so fun and engaging!" - Most of them are already gone and back to WoW, maybe they got a house here but only login once a week. If it was so engaging, we'd actually have a lively world. Instead people just do their Roulettes just to do them, check their Retainers, then log off.
