It's too bad you don't see FFXIV as anything more than a glorified instant messenger. Also, it's too bad you are rage quitting for not being able to play for a week. I think this is the price to pay for those who chose to change servers or didn't have an active account pre server swap.

Well, we aren't really rage quitting over this. Personally this specific problem hasn't effected us. But with that said, my heart does go out to the OP. Trying to get a spouce who normally doesn't play MMOs to play this game is hard enough let alone trying to sell them on the vast improvements this game has seen only to be shot down by this issue. I've been playing this game under the pretence that it will get better, and I know it will, but I also know SE customer service will never improve. It's hard to justify recurring payments knowing that something like this could happen to me.

Anyway, yes SE has shitty customer service, that's pretty well-known. But, the forums really aren't the best place to get this solved. The best way is to call SE, tell them why they suck, and how they can fix it. You shouldn't have to pay for days that you can't even log in, but no amount of complaining here will fix that.

Because molly's one gil is more than OPs one gil lol. Either you never fully read the original post or you are just going out of your way to make these forums more to your liking. There have been a few issues not directly related to game mechanics that have been resolved through the forums, so I don't really know what you're trying to get at here. Clearly nobody cares about your opinion, and I for one (as I'm sure many others would too) would prefer it if you could just GTFO conversations that don't involve you if you have nothing to contribute but 'can I have your gil' lol.

Ad hominem troll

Ad hominem troll at its simplest, will attack people personally, rather than the merits of their statements or methodologies.



The ad hominem troll often has already lost a rational argument about a topic, and thus its goal is to change the argument from being about a topic, to being about the people opposed to the troll (which could mean any/all rational person(s) in the discussion), in the hopes of both discrediting people's ideas indirectly by discrediting the people, and engendering an emotional reaction from the people by attacking their egos / self-image. The "getting a reaction out of" goal is common to most troll types.



The simple ad hominem troll is easily detected and dealt with by calling them on their ad hominem attacks.



However, often ad hominem troll will start its discourse with seemingly reasonable commentary, perhaps an analogy etc. Using rational tone, they may lull you into thinking that they are rational in general and thus their entire message should be considered rational. Once they have established such an impression, then they will then descend into personal attacks which may even sound reasonably worded, until you recognize them for what they are, nothing more than personal attacks.

In regards to your friend not being able to log into the forums, I had this problem recently and found the solution. Do NOT let the forums redirect your log in. Press the link that pops up after they log in. It will take them right to the forums, logged in.
