If you hold your breath until reactivated, you may well turn a fetching shade of blue lol.
Joking aside, I have a friend returning and is in the same situation, but he is nowhere near as upset, infact he was totally non-plussed about it.
It is not the end of the world just yet, we still have until December, apparantly![]()

It's not so much as the time it's taking, it's more so the fact that the 30 days she paid for, and everyone else, is slowly ticking away, and no services are being provided. And calling it "bad timing" like it's hers and everyone else's own fault is ignorant, no one could have seen this coming and Square Enix has the power to suspend the ability to reactivate accounts. There is no excuse for this, had they done this merger right the first time there wouldn't be an issue.

Except that SE did forsee the issue, and made apost about it here. It sucks, but they told us it was going to happen, it just so happens that they told us the same day your gf signed back up. So agian, it was bad timing. It's not so much as the time it's taking, it's more so the fact that the 30 days she paid for, and everyone else, is slowly ticking away, and no services are being provided. Tis true. As the saying goes, a fool and his money are soon parted. The moral of this story is that when it comes to spending "hard-earned money," as ppl love to call it, treat it like "hard-earned money". That means taking the time to get the facts, ask questions, and obtain information before throwing your money at something. Its not SE's fault, they said it in plain English. You, or your girlfriend, just assumed it would be taken care of earlier than is actually the case. SE said very clearly, all transfers should be finished by mid April. You should know at that point mid-April could be the longest you'll have to wait.Except that SE did forsee the issue, and made apost about it here. It sucks, but they told us it was going to happen, it just so happens that they told us the same day your gf signed back up. So agian, it was bad timing.
Really if you're gonna talk about hard-earned money, treat it like hard-earned money. SE did everything they needed to as a business to give you information you needed to make an informed decision. Your gf made a poor decision based on information, or lack thereof (idk what she knew exactly). She has no one to blame but herself, and I suppose you if you were helping her.
I disagree, because SE is not forcing anyone to pay for a service they can't enjoy. A little reading goes a long way, I will repeat what they announced:It's true that Square "warned everyone that this would happen". However, that doesn't change the fact that they shouldn't be charging people for a service that isn't being provided.
One PR-friendly way to deal with this would be to give a blanket 10 free days of game time or so to people who signed up or reactivated characters during the affected time period. It cold be that they are waiting to see what the damage is on this before announcing any compensation, but it would benefit them to make some announcement regarding compensation sooner rather than later.
Transfer of ALL characters is expected to be completed around mid to late April. This means if you want to resub, but dont want to pay for not playing, then you can wait until mid to late April before signing up again. In other words, one has the choice to wait for the transfer to be completed, or sign up early and pay to not play for however long it takes for your character to be moved.
Your suggestion is completely unnecessary, and a billing nightmare since FFXIV charges per month, and not per day. Point blank is that no one forced anyone to pay for a game they can't play. You could just wait until inactive characters are finished being transferred.

also if this issue keeps her from logging into game, a call to customer service and billing can get them to provide you with extra days to compensate it easilyIt's not so much as the time it's taking, it's more so the fact that the 30 days she paid for, and everyone else, is slowly ticking away, and no services are being provided. Wooo paying to not play the game lol would only get that from SE.
It sucks, i hope your girlfriend gets back on. Also just to note, even if you had been able to login, you would still get the "cannot verify playtime in past 30 days" nonsense for another "several" days because everything is SO SLOW..

Hello, Pofo
In regards to your friend not being able to log into the forums, I had this problem recently and found the solution. Do NOT let the forums redirect your log in. Press the link that pops up after they log in. It will take them right to the forums, logged in.
That doesn't work all the time, trust me I know..
It took me about 5 days to get onto the forums (well I stopped checking after 2 days and checked at day 5). This was a couple months ago though.
Nope just pointing out that you're being a Silly Willy![]()
