The differences are small things that don't stop them from looking extremely similar overall. The ways they look alike are big things – the combination of specific elements, colours, patterned sections, the very distinct mix of plain blue cloth and patterned red hems and highlights.

I don't know whether the Saami Council is properly representative of the culture, or whether it's a fair thing for them to seek money. But I do know that artistically, those are very similar outfits, far more than any of the other images posted above.

I guess we can overlook the fact that the shawl is artistically speaking.. a tartan. I havent heard of Scotland going after the Sami for "cultural appropriation" nor the other way around. I wonder why.

the whole concept is a little out there. it wasnt done disrespectfully by offering a bikini or speedo version. to me, its a generic northern inspire outfit in a video game. trying to paint it as anything more than that is an unadulterated cash grab attempt. and if they DID get cash, where is that going to be spent? where are they spending the money from Disney? on lawyers? or to help their own community?

not all attention is good attention, and this seems more like over reaching than much else.

BUT. The mere fact that they are seeking money does not immediately make them the villain. It depends what they want or indeed need the money for. If they want they money to do what they can to safeguard their culture, that's a very different thing to seeking it for personal profit.

I don't think it is the only similarity. I think that all the similarities add up to a close copy overall.

For what it's worth, I'm normally the one objecting when people say "all healer robes look the same" so it's not just a matter of me in all circumstances seeing similarities where others don't.

If other people are certain that these costumes here don't look the same as each other, then I really don't know what more I can say.
