In fact, in Stormblood they would talk a lot about the idea that jobs should be unique and discuss being content with some jobs being challenging and some jobs being beginner-friendly. I even recall Yoshi-P making a sort of tier list in an interview once. There were discussions about how Astrologian was scaled well for good players but that it was underperforming because people weren't good.

But as we headed into Shadowbringers, all of that disappeared. There was no more talk of all jobs needing to be unique, things that had to be maintained became traits and slowly a wave of revamps began to make jobs less difficult to play, which was double-downed on in Endwalker.
It was in one of the live letters leading to a new expansion (I honestly can't remember which one). Yoshi-P was using his hand to demonstrate the gap. He placed one hand at the top, and one at the bottom with a gap between them. Then he raised his lower hand closer to the top. Saying they want to reduce the gap by bringing the bottom up.

It was something that caught my attention even though they didn't talk about it in detail. It made me wonder "How will they do this?"
