The Official Forums is an EXTREMELY poor example of a "Good Community"

Here's my perspective overall after being active here the previous year.

General Forums is a more realistic version of the FFXIV community.

Here people don't really have to be overly kindly. And can be blunt about how they may or may not feel.

As someone who Raids, FC's, Discord Chats, Twitters and so on - I do standby the opinion that the community ain't all that.

There are genuinely great people both on here and out of it.

But General Forums, due to the lack of moderation, is a bit of a congealed pit of negative emotions that just boil together.

Based on your responses you have an overly aggressive attitude and people tend to respond negatively towards that.

That being said: the forums here are a very small fraction of the playerbase. Not a good metric to base assumptions on.

I'm not about to change my entire personality to appeal to folks on these forums.

Like you said, they're a very small fraction. And seeing as my social life in-game is absolutely thriving I'm doing just fine.

Nobody is asking you to, but you can't go around doing something that could stir up negativity and then turn around and wonder why all you see is negativity.

I'm absolutely certain that if I looked at a lot of these threads where I'm not present there's still gonna be a fair amount of negativity there regardless.

Naturally if you seek it you're going to find it as well.

It means if you find yourself in a negative situation it changes how you view things. You're going to see negativity everywhere. Just like if you have a positive experience you're more likely to over look any negatives. As for the other: if you actively seek examples of negativity you're obviously going to find it.
