nope, hinduism was active in japan, google up. they still have temple from pre buddhist times. each primal has it’s japanese name but used sanskrit names in game.
They rever everything in nature, snakes, monkeys, elephants etc etc, doesn’t mean others will represent them as monkeys in a video game.
To be fair, snakes and serpents have been called by a lot of names in the FF franchise. I think they just like using mythological names even if it doesn't follow the source material closely, if at all. And not just with serpents.

I don't really get what the purpose of this post is.
What are you trying to do?
The word "was" is carrying the world there. If you think that past influences inherently move the needle towards more cultural sensitivity then I'm going to have to disappoint you. Judaism, christianity and islam all share the exact same roots but the seperation between them is unfortunately pretty harsh in many occasions.
Yes there are people practicing hinduism in japan and while ~500k people is no small number, compared to japan's population of ~125 million that's not that many.
I understand most MMOs reusing greek/norse icons, and west is fine with it because they long left paganism, but hindus are like 1 billion or so last living pagan culture alive today not some prehistoric dead culture. There are war happening, terror attacks for cartoons, who knows what happens for drawing Bahamut. To be fair, they've been called Lamias as well in the FF franchise, which are an ancient Greek mythological being, with FF XI ringing the loudest bell for me. I think they just like using mythological names even if it doesn't follow the source material closely, if at all.
Paganism still permeates our cultures, even today, in more ways than people realize. Buuut I'd rather not get into a conversation about religion and culture around here, so I will bow out now before it really takes a turn for the worse.I understand most MMOs reusing greek/norse icons, and west is fine with it because they long left paganism, but hindus are like 1 billion or so last living pagan culture alive today not some prehistoric dead culture. Awareness and number of current practicioners not correlated. it’s about education. With so many Sanskrit words in game, they would have hindu employees for sure. The word "was" is carrying the world there.
