VIERA AND HROTHGAR COMPLAINT MEGATHREAD

You know what's truly excellent? For 3 years people were telling me collecting hairstyles as a Viera player was pointless, yet with every new and old Modern Aesthetic I made sure to get one for the day Viera would be able to use them. It feels great looking at a scrolling list of hairstyles that I collected from all over the game that my friends were convinced would never, ever be accessible on Viera or Hrothgar and seeing I can now use most of them.

I just used fantasia a lot so collecting all the hairs was a given, I was also still collecting hairs while on viera though. I also owned quite a few of them before viera came out as well. It is nice to get those styles, but I am still a bit disappointed at not getting more unique viera styles, because those could have looked really, really good. It would be amazing if those came out one day..

Then you have me :P I got money off of those hairstyles and am happy that I don't need them to have good hairstyles. The only one hairstyle I wnat out of the ones they locked is the Lyon one, and that I can go get whenever I want. I don't think the other Modern Aesthetic hairstyles look good at all on a Hrothgar frame anyway, so it's fine.

Yeah, and it's now extra complicated because giving Hrothgar and Viera new racial exclusive styles would mean they have to give every single race new exclusive styles. Eventually both Hroth and Viera will have access to all the hairstyles everybody else does anyway. When there's no discrepancy adding new styles to only 2 races would be rather unfair. Of course, some would argue Hroth/Viera are due some extra pampering, but most won't see it that way and will only see two races getting something none of the others get.

It would be amazing for every race to get as little as two new exclusive styles each, but I just don't see it happening. Hat compatibility feels like a much more realistic goal for the future.

Yeah, I'm not really seeing new exclusive stuff happening for our races. At best we'll just become like everyone else, and at worst we'll perpetually be in a state of catchup.

There's no way we'd get something "extra". They were very much willing to cut out our ears to make Hairstyles work, they reduced the amount of polygons a head had just for it. I very much doubt we'll be getting anything outside that. Perhaps far, faaaar into the future we might. But I think once hairstyles are accomodated for, they'll focus on figuring out headgear. So this is going to drag out for a long time.

Yeah, I don't see it happening either. It would be nice, but don't see it happening. We should get some since we waited over two years thinking that's what we were going to get, but c'est la vie.

Every race getting more exclusives could be nice, as being tailor made for the race, they could really make some nice thematic themes and hair that fits with their racial features. Unfortunately, exclusives in general are a fairly divisive topic; not a lot of people would be happy, for sure.

Yep, unfortunately. Hopefully once everything is caught up though, we could at least see a bump in general hairstyle releases..

I'm honestly on the side of having no more exclusives of any kind, including gender and racial exclusives. While I certainly understand the sentiment of wanting something unique - especially as someone who plays one of the two less privileged races, I strongly feel that content/items exclusive to one gender or one race only serves to foster jealousy and resentment among players. Even if we all got unique new exclusives all at the same time there would be understandable complaints involving folks preferring another race's stuff. I went through the truly dark days of Viera/Hroth where the races received zero updates and almost no headgear functioned on them. I wouldn't wish that on any other race even if it meant getting cool new things for mine. Racial gear and the 10 or so racial hairstyles each gender/race has are fine, imo, but that's basically where I want the line drawn. No more gender locks, no new racial exclusives.

An aside, but the PVP helmet actually works on Hrothgar and Viera this time. Miqos and Hroths got unique ear pockets (they're behind the metal wings on the headpiece) while Viera ears clip through the top.

It's great that we're getting more hair for hroths and viera now, but I am once again going to complain about the lack of hats and helmets.

We have so many mods that allow us to wear them. They look nice, excellent even. The head shape, clipping and whatever the devs had problems with are not an issue with them at all. Why are they still not a thing officially? Just take the mods and implement them in the game and pay the modders if nothing else. It's been one and a half expansions already (´L_` )
