VIERA AND HROTHGAR COMPLAINT MEGATHREAD

I've posted almost exclusively in this thread specifically for Viera/Hrothgar updates and for as long as that has been happening you've been here to "remind" people how angry they should be any time there is a hint of positive news. This is the complaint thread. What are we supposed to do when the complaints are addressed? Stay angry? Wat? Well, not everybody wants to remain angry. Critical, sure, but this resentment you are feeling for being essentially jealous of the speed of Viera updates because of some status quo of equal unfairness you feel the two races should share is not just criticism. It's anger, envy and FOMO.

Oh I dont want to remain angry. Never. But yknow its hard not be when the devs clear favorite gets its opposite sex, gets to be the star of multiple events back to back (still not 1 single event starring hrothgar not 1 in 4 years) gets hairstyles hrothgar cant access (lyse, no male only style opposite), gets a Trust buddy (Lyna) gets a Custom Delivery with 2 unique rewards (Anden) like it all feels very transparent on top of hrothgar being 2 patches behind because...they had to adjust ears.
Like FOMO is very very real here because...what happens when viera catch up on hairstyles to arr races? Like why bother announcing in patch notes hrothgar are getting new hair when its very clear how much the devs want jack to do with the race?
Granted, I will grant you, this jealousy is so ugly. But it comes from viewing the writing on the wall.
I just pray 7.0 brings forth a miracle and hrothgar are on par with viera, or much more swiftly, that 6.55 puts in extra work and we're not trailing two patches behind because it is sad and embarrassing.

You see, this is the perspective I find so troublesome. Why are you jealous of Viera when there are 6 totally complete races in the game that have access to not only everything Viera do, but also significantly more? Why is your frustration directed toward that race (full of Hrothgar allies who empathize with your situation, btw) and not the existence of all the races that launched complete? The default races who never have to wonder if they'll ever get a new hairstyle or be able to wear a particular hat? Your posts are chock full of absolute seething anger toward "pretty princess Viera" and "YoshiP's golden children", but how in Hydaelyn's name are Viera any of that? They're only beat by Hrothgar in terms of lacking clothing and customization features!

Sorry to but in on the conversation, feel free to ignore me.
But because Viera are pretty clearly getting Preferential Treatment. They are naturally more popular, which is part the issue. Combine that with the fact that it was said THEY (The Devs) WANTED to make the Hrothgar, but cant seem to get things right, and they just leave the Hrothgar in the dust, and leaving the Hrothgar Community waiting for...SOMETHING. While the Viera continue to get more stuff. Not to be a baby....I clearly sound like one, but that is pretty unfair, and once again, just kind of makes the Hrothgar look like an after-thought.
But wait...I thought the Devs wanted to make the Hrothgar, you'd think they'd be handled better based on that. Nah, the Viera get better treatment, and you can say its because they were highly requested, so appease that crowd....but why should the Hrothgar be punished for that?

As said, they were released at the same time. Why is one getting more work and privileges then the other, instead of equally?

Viera and hrothgar dropt into the game at the same time. I feel they should recieve the sane amount of effort. One is 8 months ahead of the other, because fans wouldnt stop screaming about it in every single shb liveletter. One recieves vastly more attention from the dev team. Its simple.
My anger is at the time and effort one recieves while the other is noticably lagging behind, and was even lagging on launch (see aforementioned buying fantasia to alter hair, a problem viera never dealt with).
One is the very clear dev favorite. The other is not despite allegedly being a race yoship personally wanted to have that stood out in a crowd of humans and slightly-different humans.
I simply want hrothgar up to par with viera. I do want hrothgar getting hats before viera. I do want a hrothgar Scion before viera. I do want all new racial gear only accessible by hrothgar (tho lets be real viera getting Frans outfit while hrothgar get...whatever, a leather corset??? instead of kimahris gear was really stupid and obvious). Thats all I want. I do not want 7.0 to drop and hrothgar still being X many patches behind their counterpart shb for no good reason. So viera getting treated so much more noticably better because of fan outcry is a sticking point. And I apologize for my tone. But I think the clear, blinding favoritism needs to change or be mildly toned down.
This is all part of why I haaaaated them announcing mviera and fhrothgar. They should have spent mviera dev time on giving the existing sexes hats and new hair. At the sane time. The opposite sexes couldve- SHOULD HAVE- waited until 7.0. when, I know this is like so totes crazy to say, they couldve been introduced together instead of there being 1 race very noticably missing its opposite sex in the character creation menu.

Because "Missing Gender" aside, Hrothgar have been pretty bare compared to everyone else, including the Viera.

I can only see this new and pretty unexpected update as good news for female Hrothgar as well as males because it suggests they will not have the same problems Hrothgar did at launch. They've been very careful to keep male Viera up to date with females so I anticipate femHroths will launch in a state as complete as the completeness status of male Hrothgar at the end of Endwalker. That means they will have all the extra hairstyles Hrothgar have at that time and won't have any face-locked styles.

This patch male Hroths will get 6 new base game/modern aesthetics as well as the unlocking of all their currently face-locked hairs. This is a huge update with probably the #1 most requested Hrothgar fix and is going to quite literally double the amount of customization options the race has access to all in one patch.

I have nothing against Viera, I love my bunny people and think the males are really cute. BUT how is completing only 1 of the 2 races that have been released together in any way fair?
Viera got unlocked hairstyles and their missing gender with 6.0. Hrothgar got nothing. We, in our own homeland got a fake queen that was a Roe.

Let me put it this way: It's Christmas and you and your brother are opening presents. Your brother goes first to open his and gets a brand new console with his favourite game. And when it comes your turn, your parents toss you a tissue box with a piece of half ripped tissue with "IOU" written on it. And now you have to wait for 2 years for your present all the while seeing your brother thoroughly enjoing his.

Can you see now how the situation was and still is unfair? Not to mention the fiasco of 6.1.
I can clearly see why XianRo is upset. SE betrayed his and a lot of our trust in them regarding this race. And some of us only need to be burned out once to know how the fire feels. It will take much more time and effort to rebuild our trust in SE.

That's the opposite of my point.

My point is, they made a choice:

1. Work on male Viera and female Hrothgar simultaneously so both are half-finished at the same time and fully finished at the same time, both released in 7.0.

2. Work entirely on one first, finish them, release them in 6.0. THEN work fully on the other for 7.0.

They went for the second choice so at least one of the two races could be complete sooner, and it's logical to have worked on the more popular race first so that more people could be happier sooner.

It's not "fair" in the sense that everyone has to suffer an equally long wait. But wanting other people to arbitrarily be as inconvenienced as yourself is also not fair in a different way.

Don't remind me... The Hrothgar Fiasco. The ears... my ears. And everyone believing and treating it as an April Fools joke, but a couple weeks later when the patch was out... that was literally it. A result of 3 years and promises resulted in chopping off our ears for "new and unique" hairstyles that every other race had to replace our inability to wear helmets and hats. @_@

It's been well over a year now and I have yet to fully recover my trust in SE after that incident. Felt like my entire being was toyed around with for multiple years, especially when I remember how they just laughed at the ridiculousness of the hairstyle yet went to release it without ears anyway. Every time I remember that incident, I'm just sad and disappointed.

Even though they are finally updating Hrothgar after huge PR backlash, the duration between patches has also became much longer, so the feeling of Hrothgars being scammed gotten worse since it means more months in playtime without as much customization compared to other races. Hrothgars are just always on catch-up, with no signs saying otherwise because of SE's decision to forgo any proper updates to them for so many years.

Now I looked back, ever since the Hrothgar incident, I stop blindly believing SE will do something about the isuses if nothing is mentioned and will call out the problem when I see it if there's no signs of any change. I suspect many other players have also started paying attention to small issues as well after realizing the Hrothgar incident treated players with such little respect instead of believing SE is aware on how to fix the problem, which led to the housing incident blowing up all over the forums, the Kaiten incident, the healer incident, DRG fearing for updates to their job causing SE to delay updates to DRG, and everything just spiraling the forums towards a place of negativity and doubt.
