Thats a double edged sword, you try to explain a mechanic to a newb, most of the time they either dont care, dont read or a white knight jumps in to protect what does not need protecting or you get the rare i want to learn it myself. Some do appreciate the help, but its rarer than you think. Thats just for mechancis, say you get the newb doing really low dps, how do you know that or bring that up when you cant talk about it? =p

Yeah I seen it happen and have had it happen to me. No matter how nice you are when explaining something, it seems people take it as a personal attack, and the most annoying is when others jump in to defend the person I am just trying to help. Gave up on it till the other night. I was tanking in a 50 dungeon and had a healer falling for the free cure trap. Told them to use cure 2 and to forget about cure 1 and explained why they should just use cure 2. Both dps jumped on me to let the healer play the way they want to.

I have lost interest in offering help/advice actively as well, except when asked or when things gone south so badly the group need a pointer. But at that point I'm not in position of wanting to let the group attempt the same approach for X time. Either we take my approach and see where it'll take us, or I'll use the door myself and let somebody else deal with that.

Enablers are probably the worst people. Like, let someone offer help, it's not an attack, calm down. I mean if you were being a toxic POS I can understand, but I'm willing to trust that wasn't the case.

Saying that doesn't mean that the other side won't take it as "harassment". I don't know about others but i'm not going to risk a strike on my account because people can't tell the difference between a personal attack and trying to explain a mechanic that is more difficult than "don't stand in yellow/orange". lol

Oh I know, and I agree. It's really sad, honestly, that some people have been conditioned to think this way.
