I'm saying that because I think it's important to distinguish between people who might just be bad, but are at least trying to play the game, and those who just want a free ride or act like asshats, due to the direction the conversation went. Sure, it could help in those situations where someone's being a leech, but those situations are the exception, not the norm.

Do I think people are going to get screamed at in dungeons about their low DPS? Sure, it could happen once in a blue moon, just like the /r Tales of Duty Finder posts are really deviant from the standard. What I realistically think would happen if an official parser were added to all content is... nothing. There might be more comments on personal DPS or praising about someone skyrocketing the charts, but this community in general is so against saying anything that might potentially get them reported that I don't think much would actually happen.

I personally don't care if parsing tools are added to the game or not, if I need to parse, I have access to ACT if I want it/people who use it. My whole issue with this entire conversation has been anti-parse people coming in and saying this game would just turn into the toxic cesspool that is WoW, including all these situations of people constantly being kicked or yelled at because of DPS which... isn't even remotely true, or claiming that the ToS is suddenly going to not protect people from harassment.

The only decent arguments against an in-game parser that have been brought up in this topic are it's completely unnecessary in low-end content because as you've said you can literally faceroll the keyboard and beat it, it's technically unnecessary in high end content because people manage to clear without it, and because YoshiP doesn't want to add it. That's it. Anything about elitism or harassment is just doomsdaying or projecting or using the boogieman that is WoW (it really lives rent free in some 14 players' heads, just like Firemage and a couple posters here LOL).

Don't make assumptions about everyone, this just comes across as a "GOTCHA" attempt. I'm always down to help people when they're willing to try/learn. AFAIK Bobby also isn't referring to these people when talking about toxic players, but I could be wrong I'm not them.

I do not think anyone here is unwilling to help those that are willing to learn. It has been said nearly a dozen times being a causal or playing poorly in itself is not the issue. It is when someone is playing poorly on purpose because the content is faceroll. For me this is what I consider a toxic causal. You know those people that would afk during alliance raids or old msq runs.

Some people feel genuine interpersonal aggression towards people who play the game badly, as if the act of playing the game badly is some kind of slight against them. Being inexperienced, or being bad at a game, is not an inherently malicious action.

It factually is though. It is intentionally being a burden. That is always a malicious action

So many of you feel it's a slight when people play bad yet I rarely ever see any of you say you have a desire to help those people get better. If bad players piss you off so much you being the "better player" should help them out. If more had a dire to use parse info to help their fellow WoLs I'd advocate for parsing more full sale

Yeah it was super common for me, I just accepted as my luck. Always had at least two or three just standing at the zone getting teleported in after each phase. Sometimes would even be able to get the group to vote kick them right before the final pull.

Though I have been told that was scummy of me.

Thats a double edged sword, you try to explain a mechanic to a newb, most of the time they either dont care, dont read or a white knight jumps in to protect what does not need protecting or you get the rare i want to learn it myself. Some do appreciate the help, but its rarer than you think. Thats just for mechancis, say you get the newb doing really low dps, how do you know that or bring that up when you cant talk about it? =p

No matter how nice you are when explaining something, it seems people take it as a personal attack, and the most annoying is when others jump in to defend the person I am just trying to help. Gave up on it till the other night. I was tanking in a 50 dungeon and had a healer falling for the free cure trap. Told them to use cure 2 and to forget about cure 1 and explained why they should just use cure 2. Both dps jumped on me to let the healer play the way they want to.

I have lost interest in offering help/advice actively as well, except when asked or when things gone south so badly the group need a pointer. But at that point I'm not in position of wanting to let the group attempt the same approach for X time. Either we take my approach and see where it'll take us, or I'll use the door myself and let somebody else deal with that.

Enablers are probably the worst people. Like, let someone offer help, it's not an attack, calm down. I mean if you were being a toxic POS I can understand, but I'm willing to trust that wasn't the case.
