It's not even WAR. Any good tank barely needs healing in Troia.

As a Sage my favorite Expert runs are 1 healer and 3 dps. You can still wall pull and do quite a good bit of dps with no tank at all, but at least you need to press heal buttons. Other fun games are when our dps like to see if they can keep full uptime on the DoT from the wall on the last boss, or stacking 4 spread markers together. Needless to say, Troia is a joke.

Did Leveling Roulette the other day and I can't remember the dungeon...it was the one where the final boss is fought on a platform and summons adds you have to kill or they march across the platform and lay traps down.

Anyway as soon as we start...the DNC partners the other DPS and apparently that DPS thought the DNC had cooties cause they leave immediately. After the first mob set I told DNC to shift partner to the tank. After that it was just a very smooth run. Never got another DPS in which was odd. The funny thing is even though it was still smooth...it actually felt better being a DPS down. Kinda makes me want to do dungeons with just one of each role type from now on.

Sounds like the dungeon was Fractal Continuum by the description of the last boss fight, which is an optional dungeon so that could be why it didn't refill.

Yeah that was it. I had that thought too but the group I was with actually enjoyed it just being the three of us.

Ran into this tank that was running around in a set of level 20-30 gear which at best is 17 levels under the dungeon we're in. I think they were an alt because they clearly knew the route(they neatly pulled the first pull straight into the corner of the first boss room, did the same for the second), but between the gear and the lack of mitigations they got shredded. If I wasn't playing sage, they'd have died multiple times(SCH could probably handle it too). Had to pop all 3 druochloes immediately from the first pull and spam e-diagnosis. The magical toolbox that mister Yoshi P. says I'm not supposed to have say that they used Rampart an amazing 0 times the whole dungeon.

Don't really get people like that. This is why ARR dungeons need to have some gear level caps or something.

Healer (used loosely) in Cutter's Cry. We're marching through the room after the first boss toward the shifting sands and I notice too late that the group stayed behind to fight the optional enemies. After pointing out that the sands can be taken, one DPS defensively mentions people not being aware of that (without specifying who). While this claim is acceptable, it was somewhat inhibited by three factors: the group continued to ignore the sands and whittle away (with a SMN there to help raise), there were no first-timers, and everyone pretty much aced the eye mechanics in the last fight, which is pretty rare.

Edit: same role and duty the next day, only now a DPS goes on ahead to trigger the second boss so everyone can warp in.

This happened a couple of days ago but for some reason I keep remembering it. And it makes me go ??? every time. We don't get many "lovely" experiences in DF on Cerberus.

Friend (WHM) and I (DRK) queue for levelling roulette and get Tower of Babil. Cool. Our two dps were a sprout RDM doing this for the first time and a mentor DNC. Everything goes relatevely well until the first boss. The lil sprout quickly learns the mechanics and proceeds to do almost everything correctly. The mentor, on the other hand, kept getting hit by every single mechanic and dying. They died 3 times on the first boss alone. It was so ironic to us we actually got a good chuckle out of it. Till it stopped being funny for the other bosses. Not only did it seem like they were going out of their way to die (because I can't imagine someone consistently screwing up so much) but they also appeared to have no idea how to play dancer. Absolutely never used Technical Step and waited approx. 10-20 seconds to use standard step after it falls off as a buff. The run still went somewhat fast thanks to the RDM knowing what they're doing and the holy/glare/misery spam but damn.

At this point I am convinced the mentor icon is a red flag.

Similar to that one time I ended up on a Mentor that didn't know how to do Snowcloak mechanic.

Might I recommend taking Scholar and Sage for a spin? Those classes basically slap shields on your teammates regardless of how much health they have and shields always break before HP loss. In a situation like that, Sage would be more fun because you put "Eukrasis Diagnosis" shield or (however its spelled) on the tank, the shield pops, gives you an addersting, and then spend the addersting on an aoe attack called "Toxicon"
The playing mentality is different for shield healers because you must preshield your teammates before mechanics, raidwide aoes, and tankbusters resolve.

So all these boss fights you're familiar with, go back and play them all on Scholar and Sage. It's an interesting experience.
Agreed, but Healer dps rotation are.... non-existant, not really fun to play in time like these. Their whole kit is based around healing, so why making it so the content require them to dps when they lack a 1-2-3 rotation?

to be fair, mentors like that just stick out more than others and because of that they stick in your memory... especially with all the memes going around. mentors are just players like you and me. some are silent, some are helpful and some are a load of shit.
