Ran Zodiark Normal on my alt as a BRD to progress through her MSQ.

Istg the two healers (WHM+AST) in that party made me wish I did not decide to stick to BRD for the entirety of her EW MSQ journey (for semi-RP’ing purpose). Homie already weren’t dpsing—just healing—and still manage to screw healing through Styx stacks. And what do you know… the DNC & double WAR in the party carried the party through.

Zodiark itself is already bafflingly pitiful and still… just…how..???

Not all older player have ran the post 6.1 patch version of Snowcloak so I think it’s normal to see experienced and inexperienced alike to screw up… to certain degree. The same applies to other similarly adjusted dungeons.

Oh yeah I ran new Snowcloak for the first time a few days ago. I forgot it was reworked and was taken completely by surprise, as I've had zero reason to do leveling roulette/old dungeons since before the rework as I had finished all the jobs long before the rework hit.

Friend (WHM) and I (DRK) queue for levelling roulette and get Tower of Babil. Cool. Our two dps were a sprout RDM doing this for the first time and a mentor DNC. Everything goes relatevely well until the first boss. The lil sprout quickly learns the mechanics and proceeds to do almost everything correctly. The mentor, on the other hand, kept getting hit by every single mechanic and dying. They died 3 times on the first boss alone. It was so ironic to us we actually got a good chuckle out of it. Till it stopped being funny for the other bosses. Not only did it seem like they were going out of their way to die (because I can't imagine someone consistently screwing up so much) but they also appeared to have no idea how to play dancer. Absolutely never used Technical Step and waited approx. 10-20 seconds to use standard step after it falls off as a buff. The run still went somewhat fast thanks to the RDM knowing what they're doing and the holy/glare/misery spam but damn.

At this point I am convinced the mentor icon is a red flag.
Sounds like me. It wasn't me, as I'd never claim the whole 'Mentor' thing since I know I'm useless, but I am sadly capable of that sort of miserable performance.

So...Last night I was SCH cause I'm tired of how easy WHM is. We get the Dead Ends and things are fine...till first boss. The DRG dies to the wind mechanic every single time. Not from the doom...but they keep following the bad circles and getting hammered. That's fine. I keep raising him and we continue on.

Now 2nd boss. DRG dies to every mechanic again. I'm struggling to keep this dude alive so much I get distracted and forget the tankbuster is a thick line and not just on them. I get one shot but luckily the SMN picks me up immediately. DRG continues to die a ton. How much is a ton? Well they died 4 times before the rez sickness from the first time is even expired.

Now 3rd boss. DRG is getting murdered left and right and both he and the SMN bite it to the first wing attack. I get both of them up and then start using all my oGCDs at once to get everyone to a survivable amount of health before the boss starts chaining raidwides. The SMN starts questioning if the DRG has any idea what they are doing. DRG apologizes and I tell them it's fine cause the chaos is making it fun for me. The run finally ends. I think I did over 15 raises that run.

Hardly anyone cared about the snowball mechanic on the second boss, if that's what you're talking about. It ends up being some work for the healer, but zerging it was faster. I went through runs where the mechanic was both either ignored or dealt with.

It definitely took longer when ignored. That boss had a boatload of HP.

IDK when you guys mean. Perhaps it was like that in older expansions? Really had no trouble in Shadowbringers with it. It's definitely a health sponge but the mechanics didn't seem relevant enough.

Yeah it's like they say. Older versions the tank had to position the boss so he does his snow cone attack and hits the small adds. They turn into a snowball and you can pile the size of it up to three times. The boss would do a raidwide that adds a stack of damage on you. The only way to stop it is to punt the snowball into his face. It does way more damage if you can triple the size of the snow ball. Trying to just whittle him down with attacks took FOREVER...

Now he is a totally different. I've only fought the new version once and I just sat there as the team was beating on him cause I didn't know he was changed. I noticed adds never came in so then that's when I figured it out and started to attack too.
