Just realized there was a moogle event yesterday, not sure if it just came out but a friend was levelling their BLM and saw it via their duty selects. I figured I'd help em out with a tank Q and grab some tomes as well. Well the first time we got a sprout SCH. Their healing was lackluster but nothing to cry home about immediately, figured it was typical sprout things. They asked if SCH was a late bloomer job or just bad, I said my personal experience after 30 (when Eos kicks you out of the house and tells you to figure it out on your own) was pretty awkward until around 70 ish when you get more of the kit that makes SCH shine. We wipe on that toad pack in Dzemael because I forgot the toads pull in and stun and SCH got eaten alive. Realize after that they've only been healing with psychik. No Adlo shields or anything, fairy isn't even summoned. Realize I told them their class sucked when they aren't using the tools they DO have. Told them to resummon their fairy but I have no idea if they just ignored me or didn't understand what I meant. Other dps was also a sprout saying they can't figure out SCH and how it's an awful job in their opinion which is validating the SCH who's only idea of healing is spamming psychick as if it's a WHM. We pull through, somehow. I split packs into much smaller groups and prayed to Yoshi P.
After that I told my friend I'm healing. This time we get a DRK returner who's idea of handling packs is reprisaling/ provoking at a distance and then waiting for mobs to move into them. They would arms length + shadowwall before the mobs arrive, wasting active mitigation time. They continued to stand where they originally where which meant the party had to constantly adjust around them and didn't dodge a single telegraph, boss or mob pack. Yes, even the 1st boss who casts a stare telegraph and debuffs you with disabled abilities if you get hit. I highly considered letting him ride out the debuff but didn't wanna chance it was disabling their CDs which they actually needed from eating so much avoidable damage. Let's just say I told them at the start to pull big, but they died continuously throughout despite my best efforts so they... pulled small and still died. I appreciate their efforts for looking up tank tips but reprisal and provoking at a distance is not meant that literally.
I don't know what's happening but I keep getting good runs in Dun Scaith. Of course, there's always a hiccup here and there but overall it's been amazing! And that makes me scared... I feel like my luck may be running out. But with that being said. Hey, MT, how about you don't run into the big shiny door next time. I'm not exactly a fan of getting stepped on by Diabolos Hollow. OR DOING MECHANICS AS MT AND CLEAVING EVERYONE. Or dps running away with the fear stack so the boss goes "screw that one dancer in particular".
I will never understand people's desire to main tank a raid they are doing for the first time and/or know nothing about. Come what may though I always eat the unavoidable oneshots it seems.
Mogtomes really love bringing in some of the worst kind of participant into FL, ain't it?
Been spamming a good amount of matches. If my memory serves me right there had been 3 or 4 matches where I can see some random doing 0 damage, healing, and taking 0 damage in result screen.
Took my time to file in a good reading for GM but I kinda doubt it'll do anything... either way, I've done my part. Good thing is, my luck has been quite nice that I'm getting more wins than losses.
"Outside obvious jokes/sarcasm, I aim to convey my words to the future readers who may come across mine posts. Can I change -your- mind, somehow? Potentially... but that's not why I'm writing. You and I have wrote our piece(s). We don't necessarily need to change each other's mind. But we can change other's."
Never thought I'd end up posting an experience where 'I' wasn't to blame for my own poor performance...
However - played 'Fell Court of Troia', as Dancer, a short time ago. Did okay I guess, I mean - I didn't really die or anything and did the best I could. However, I did somehow manage to draw aggro fighting Scarmiglione - ended up with a circle stack and no support - everyone just stayed in the spot they were in at that time. Popped all the defensive abilities I had and attempted to get to them but was KO'ed anyway. And so was the healer (an Astrologian). That only left a Monk and a Warrior; thankfully, by that point, Scarmiglione's health was low enough that those two were able to finish the Duty.
Still - have to admit, I did find that annoying.

My guess is its a mogtome effect. Is Dun Scaith the most efficient way to farm the event? Oh heavens no. But for me, it will be the most fun. As of now im 2 runs in, with the plan to do 11 and 1 filler for the 2 items i want(if i change course and aim for a 3rd item i need to add 7 more but the typical month should be more then enough time). Im only direct queing(along with several others) so im forcing some pops for roulette runners. But most of all, ive run this raid dozens of times over the years. I know all the mechs. I wont say im perfect, but if im awake i rarely make mistakes. And a lot of the people queing with me are in the same boat. So its an influx of vets looking for a particular instance they know well and enjoy, thus the rising tide lifts all ships.
Of course, now that ive said all this I'm bound to get a couple runs of all first timer tanks and healers where everything that can go wrong does. Cant imagine not clearing though. If ive farmed an entire mogtome event out of just Orbonne, i can do it out of Dun Scaith too.
If it makes you feel better I ended up tanking yesterday in Dun Scaith as PLD. First boss I get doom and the healers never cleanse me nor the other dps that had Doom. We die and they start to run around like headless chickens before slowly raising us. Third round of Doom goes out, and another set of dps die. One of the dps that died spoke up about them needing to Esuna Doom.
No, wait, people probably took Esuna off their hotbars again and didn't remember you can cleanse blue-bar debuffs. No, wait, it was probably toxic of the dps to ask the healers to actually cleanse Doom.
Or in the same run, I had to Clemency myself multiple times on Connla and Diabolos Hollow because the healers were just...standing there spamming Medica 2 over and over in Narnia and just flat-out ignoring me. Eventually I keel over on Diabolos Hollow (HG's too long of a cooldown, and I only have so many mits, SE plz DX) but I did manage to save that other tank that wasn't getting healed from their party either.
After that run I told myself to just go on alliance as a healer from now on. I can't trust any random healers anymore as a tank or dps.
This one is beyond your help. Only sleep can save her now.
It took me two days of nothing but Dun Scaith (I pick all 3 in the Void Ark series when queueing for tomes) to go from finding it difficult to finding it yawningly boring. Think I'm going to stop selecting it from now on...
