I wouldn't be opposed to them giving older S ranks some kind of buff that caps their damage taken per hit to levels that would be considered reasonable according to their expansion's standards.

If they're going to keep retroactively updating the rewards on older hunts to keep them appealing, then it wouldn't hurt to take measures to ensure they aren't getting melted either.

This is what I'd like to see. Have the S ranks given a buff where any damage dealt above an amount appropriate for the expansion's level range is absorbed/deflected (or heck, reflected, that could be fun to watch). Would probably need to add an immunity to damage over time effects as well. Making that change should be considerably simpler than reworking each S rank or trying to implement player scaling.

The mark would still die somewhat faster but not unreasonably faster. Higher level players would still have their advantage of dodging some attacks due to the level difference. Players at the intended level for the S rank would still be able to participate.

I'll see if I can dig up the source if I can remember when it happened. There are so many past Q&As it could have been from.

Regardless, it's something they don't want to do.
