In most RPG parties there is a fair amount of variety to account for different tastes amongst players. This is not the case in FFXIV, where it is oversaturated with blond/white haired elezen and miqote. There's usually at least one "big guy" for lack of a better phrase whether they be Qunari like Iron Bull in Dragon Age, Barret in FFVII, etc.

Exactly this, we don't even have one big guy in the group, the Scions are really too similar to one another.
Even FFXII manage to be more diversed with a cast composed entirely of humans saved for Fran.

I want someone who looks like Auron, or Kimahri from FFX. I want a cast of characters that don't necessarily know each others and have varied goals like the party of FFXII.
And i want visual distinctions between all these characters that instantly makes you realize that they have different origins or cultures from one another.

So no more white haired people or scholars with purple tattoo please.

What I want to see in such a character is for them to not be designed in a way that purposefully makes them ugly, whether through spite for the race or larger types in general, and for them to bring something compelling to the story. Hopefully it'll be something more impactful than the feelz rollercoaster that a lot of people fell for in Endwalker and have something in the way of strong character development and high personal stakes. Again, see the above character for some pointers when it came to his story arc, his body not looking like it was made out of a marshmallow, and what draws his fans to him.

Someone who we can enjoy watching them overcome adversities, and potentially succeed in accomplishing their goal. Preferably with a conclusion that doesn't involve fakeout deaths. Though I suppose if the main party will be immortal, Roegadyn/Hrothgar enjoyers will be able to benefit of having 10 years worth of the character just like everyone has had to forcefully tolerate 10 years of Y'shtola and the twins.

I'm not opposed to a 'bigger' character joining the scions, I just don't think a Hrothgar is it. Gosetsu would have been a fine addition for example. A race like the Qunari being added would be cool (though closer in design to the Arishok rather than Iron Bull would be my preference), but people are already complaining about the lack of hats as it is. So big horned races are probably a nono.

Funny enough, I'm fairly certain Estinien is supposed to be the "big guy" of the team. He's tall, loves going straight to the point (brute force), and is ...not so bright - even his armor of choice is rather bulky to make him stand out more. Yet, he is still just another white haired Elezen. We might as well ask Fourchenault if he wants to drop the Forum and relive his adventuring days.

I will agree with you on one aspect though. Roegadyn also deserve better, especially after the way Gosetsu and Moebryda ended up.

We do have Radovan and the NPCs in Norvrandt. But Norvrandt doesn't really count, and Radovan's... busy giving gunblades to people who don't press cooldowns... *sigh*

Anyway, I'm done entertaining classless catastrophies that are so butthurt that a Hrothgar looked at them funny one day so much they stopped growing empathy or support for them. Feel free to eat the popcorn all you want guys, I'm not gonna participate in this any further.

Back on topic for me.

Hrothgar do need more representation, but overall so do other races as well. And while Square does a somewhat satisfactory job on some, they don't really do it nearly as well in others. Hrothgar aside...
- The two major Xaelas have been flanderized
- The two major Roegadyn are either dead or on self-imposed exile. Or just the mid-patch villain.
- In terms of numbers, the Raen are also rather low. The only major one we know of is Yugiri, Kurenai and Mikoto are only prominent in sidequests. Sure, it makes sense in-lore due to isolationism, but be real, whenever has Square actually followed through with lore isolationism?
Then again, we do have Varshahn... but he's not REALLY a Raen, so does he count?
- And in terms of Duskwights, do we have anyone major like Ysayle was? Mother Miounne barely comes close, she's nowhere near as prominent after a while.

I'm not saying they all need to find representation in the Scions. But it definitely would be nice to have someone with more prominence become a go-to for the player character to hang with and adventure around. Currently our Trust options aren't limited to the Scions, with Varshahn, Lyna and previously Estinien and the Exarch. It'd be nice to have more like that to break the shell. That way every character had a prominent member of their race represented. Otherwise the "protagonist" roster is too skewed. We also don't have a Lalafell Trust yet, for example, but I assume that will change with Krile being a bit more prominent in the future.

Though it does lead me to question whether or not this has to do with a race's popularity within the fanbase. Miqo'te are obvious, it's easy to make them markettable. Especially in Japan. But are the Scions being so skewed toward Wildwood Elezen a product of popularity as well?

I'm trying to remember, do the bangaa have any combat animations whatsoever? Because yeah like I said earlier having Bwagi and Fran as companions would be amazing, and very appropriate if by some miracle we got to deal with more Dalmasca stuff.
