Meanwhile miqo'tes are a dime a dozen and all look the same.
Meanwhile female au ra are a dime a dozen and all look the same.
Meanwhile male au ra range from somewhat decent to uncanny valley akward.
Meanwhile male roes look physically awkward.
Meanwhile elezen have held a monopoly on the Scion membership and all look awkward even when looking good.
Meanwhile male hyur all look the same.
Meanwhile lalafels all look the same.

Oh wait, this is all opinion (other than elezen monopolizing Scion membership) and shouldn't even affect which NPCs we get, which should instead be based on other things, such as "rate of usage".

"I personally hold the opinion that hroths are ugly, therefore I think the race should not receive any story benefits that actually have weight behind them, despite it diversifying the currently stale formula and making hrothgar fans feel like they're getting *something*."

This is basically what the "I don't want a hrothgar MSQ member" arguments in this thread are boiling down to. Cool, thanks for showing we shouldn't bother trying to have discussion with any of you regarding this, especially when you think player limitations really matter when it comes to affecting an NPC's appearance.

On topic, I honestly wouldn't be surprised at all if they give us a femhroth party member in 7.0.

It ALWAYS devolves into racist drama whenever Hrothgar (and sometimes Roe or Highlander) players ask for even the littlelest acknowledgment. It's almost amusing

so apparently the only option that doesn't "stress the newbies" is either pressing 1211111111, or do nothing at all.

You know, it's sad really. We HAD one. The sadly often-forgotten Moenbryda Wilfsunnwyn.

She was unique amongst the Scions if you really think about it - under-represented race, a job/class that no other Scion covered (Marauder) and although she was clearly very well educated she, unlike a certain Miqo'te Waifu, had a personality beside that. And she had good chemistry with Urianger.
    So naturally
    they killed her off

It boggles my mind that people would actually prefer to have the devs be lazy than have a Hrothgar character made with care.
And here i thought that the devs were the only ones holding back the potential of Hrothgars.

But no, we also have people here that are actively against their proper implementation in the game.
If they don't want to see them at all like shown in this thread, i doubt any improvement to the race would be enough for them to accept one in the main cast.

I'm allowed my opinion dude ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I really don't like the way Hrothgar look, so why would I want to see more of them?

Sure, one would just think you'd want to see the race improved, not dropped off the map and forgotten.

In most RPG parties there is a fair amount of variety to account for different tastes amongst players. This is not the case in FFXIV, where it is oversaturated with blond/white haired elezen and miqote. There's usually at least one "big guy" for lack of a better phrase whether they be Qunari like Iron Bull in Dragon Age, Barret in FFVII, etc.

What I want to see in such a character is for them to not be designed in a way that purposefully makes them ugly, whether through spite for the race or larger types in general, and for them to bring something compelling to the story. Hopefully it'll be something more impactful than the feelz rollercoaster that a lot of people fell for in Endwalker and have something in the way of strong character development and high personal stakes. Again, see the above character for some pointers when it came to his story arc, his body not looking like it was made out of a marshmallow, and what draws his fans to him.

Someone who we can enjoy watching them overcome adversities, and potentially succeed in accomplishing their goal. Preferably with a conclusion that doesn't involve fakeout deaths. Though I suppose if the main party will be immortal, Roegadyn/Hrothgar enjoyers will be able to benefit of having 10 years worth of the character just like everyone has had to forcefully tolerate 10 years of Y'shtola and the twins.

There has always been some form of variety among NPCs that we encounter in the world. Until Shadowbringers's Trust system, there were no "RPG Parties".

    Instead, we got

Female Roegadyn leader of a nation who we interacted with on a regular basis
Female Hyur (well, Padjal) leader of a nation who we interacted with on a regular basis
Male Highlander in charge of an army who we interacted with on a regular basis
Female Lalafell leader of a nation who we interacted with on a regular basis
Male Elezen (eventual) leader of a nation who we interacted with on a regular basis
Male Miqote leader of a functioning city-state who we interacted with on a regular basis
Male Au'ra leader who we managed to tolerate during our regular interactions
Male Hrothgar leader of a forest community who we interacted with on a regular basis
One who had a number of VA scenes
Female Viera leader of a forest community. Everyone in that community was a
female Viera, and a number of them had VA scenes.

One of the above had white hair. One of the above had blond hair.

Yeah, the Scions had a "type". Understandable for the most part, since hair color in Japanese fantasy media (ok ... anime) started out as a means to single out the 'more important' characters in the story.
