I think also a big difference is that in WoW, incoming damage is constant so you’re kept busy trying to balance doing healing and doing dps, which for me is how 14 felt in stormblood (because there were more dps options) and some healers require some cool-down management and planning for when to use them.

Plus in WoW, the gameplay isn’t pressing a few OP ogcd heals that bring back the group to max really easily, it’s mostly lots of single target healing with limited aoe spells and some situational things you can put on the ground.

I think the reason they dumbed down healers so much in 14 is simply because they don’t have enough devs to dedicated to each role, so they have just been made (healers) as a utility to just to simply make duties doable, without any passion or interest put into them.

Also tank invulns shouldn’t be in the game.

You could also argue they want to get to the point where healers aren’t really required to complete duties because they’ll offload healing abilities to dps and make tanks super OP, but I really hope that doesn’t happen - not sure dps players will be happy with lower parses because they have to take up a healing duty as part of their role….
