I went for a walk just now and I noticed an odd smell. Turns out it was all the douche that's in this thread.
I don't know which side is worse... the side that thinks they're elite for doing speed runs or the side that hates speed runs when it's part of the game's design (you have to do speed runs to get certain gear and achievements).
Not even sure what to say. Some improvements need to be made to drop rates, but the posts in this thread took me by surprise by how silly they are.
WAIT!
I forgot I'm on the Final Fantasy XIV forums. No surprise here.
And rather than respond to peoples posts, I thought another meme (I know, so 2010) would suffice.

You're still the only person on our server that I've seen with a Darklight body, so Iunno. Take that how you will. This is not a QQ post, more of a ZZZ post.
Just wondering how many of the "elite" players/LSes are just fed up with CC and AV speed runs/ the game in general.
We have been farming CC on the regular to being with, but this weekend we decided to go non-stop, periodically. We have just done 25-30 speed runs in the past day and a half a row and got ZERO Darklight gear. Meanwhile, random people are getting drops on non-speed runs.
There seems to be something wrong with this reward system. You complete the dungeon faster than 95% of the people, get no drops, then have to wait 15 minutes just to re-enter. Anyone think that wins should be automatic reentry with the abysmal drop rates they have? Three of our LS members, who are madly in love with the game, over the past two days have grown to hate the game. Clearly something is wrong with this picture.
1 DD curiass, 3 heavy DL gloves, 1 DL dd boots in 85-100 runs (I lost track). A majority of them being speed runs. Mathematically speaking, that's absurd.
I stopped reading once I saw that they idled for 6.25-7.5 hours in a 36 hour span.

My LS has 15 pieces of Darklight and we only do like 1-2 runs a day to not burn ourselves out. We managed to get one speed run completed in Aurum Vale a couple days ago and that's how we got the Heavy Darklight Armor. We're lucky if we can get 2 chests on a 59 minute clear. It takes no skill to beat it fast. The drop rate is so high we have to moderate our runs cause if we did more then 2 a day we'd have full darklite gaerz alraedy, lul.
The reason why you have completed it faster than 95% of the people, is because of those, 90% haven't tried or do not care. If you reduce your number to include only people who are attempting the speed run, then the number grows much larger.
Reported in this thread are 5%-25%+ drop rates. Really not bad percentages at all.
And there is no triple meld in the world that is going to make Sentinel Celata and Sentinel Body come close to the stats on HDL body. Nor will it for Sentinel Gauntlets to HDL Gauntlets. It is iffy on the legs and feet vs the HDL Fal. Depends which stats you are looking for and also if you are PLD or WAR. Take out the fighter's breeches and again, no way.
But to triple meld those feet, you are going to have to either buy/farm the feet and buy/create the materia, which will be repeated coffer opening and spiritbinding. Then it would also have to be successful and at a rate that beats the drop rate from the chest in the dungeon. For every person who wants them in your team that runs the dungeon as well. Also, you would have to find standing at a chest you can solo for hours more fun than running a dungeon. Or you can blow your gils, which you earned doing things, which took time.....
In short, I understand your premise, but disagree with your conclusion.
I hate the longer lockout idea.
Increase the the drops geez.
4th chest should have a chance for DarkLight, and 5th chest should give at least one Darklight guranteed.
If Linkshells run Cutter's Cry 500 times in a week, and get all the gear, so what - it's what they do.
If they run till their eyes bleed, get all their crap in a week - then bitch about being bored...it's their OWN fault.
Low lockout, and higher drop rates don't hurt ANYTHING, in fact it only lowers prices of gear at the Wards which helps the casual players even more imo.
Also, keep in mind that everything we're doing now - doesn't matter at all.
All these dungeons are nothing but test-beds for SE's dungeon mechanics - from it's paying beta testers.
So keep playing, get your loot, cuz if you look up at the giant Meteor in the sky...yeah.
The idea of a longer lockout caters to the players who prefer reward over having fun. Not everyone does everything for the final reward. Some people do it to enjoy the content, and an increased lockout basically says that those players aren't worth considering.
