P1S-P6S and currently working on P7S, entirely on my warrior.
P1S-P4S was kind of mild for mitigations for MT. Not anything out of the ordinary and nothing scary say maybe purgation in P1S as that sometimes would force a tank swap if Holmgang was gone and could get hairy. Other then that...MT was fairly mild for 1st tier savage.
P5S - P6S Now we have back to back tank busters and a dot/bleed after the hit. MT takes first hit, normally I just Thrill/vengeance, shirk...easy. But then I realized my co-tank was going to also get hit by a buster. Look down at BW/Nascent...and it's on cooldown...with 10 seconds left. Whoops. DRK uses TBN...it's INSTANTLY deleted...healers struggle to keep up on 2 dots. DRK dies....then I die since I have melee vuln debuff from buster...party wipes.
P7S does the same style of tank busters....this is a trend this tier. Tanks are going to take a beating.
Long story short....tanks have to time their mitigations MUCH better. After I stopped hitting Bloodwhetting for myself and using Nascent on my co-tank...the healers have seen a HUGE difference. Warrior is such a clutch tank when it comes to MT/OT gameplay. Nascent is SUCH a great skill. Much like PLD intervention, GNB Heart of Corundum, and DRK TBN.
Additionally: If you time your Nascent correctly you can have it cover the first buster hit on yourself...AND for the co-tank as it's timer still has 2 seconds left when their busters hit's them.
After I realized I don't have to be greedy and spend my short mitigation on myself but on my co-tank this tier...our healers no longer fear the tank buster/dot. 40k a tick is scary and now I'm getting oblation+TBN on top of thrill/vengeance+Nascent. I take maybe 17k a tick now down from 40k! Tanks have to play MUCH smarter this tier.
So for those that think WAR shines in self heals...your not wrong. But it CAN also heal other party members. So can PLD, so can GNB. DRK is just fortunate enough to get TBN on a short cooldown, but at a lose to it's damage. DRK can afford to miss a few flood/edge to help out as it's damage is already disgustingly out of control.
Maybe this tier is EXACTLY what I have been asking for....tanks getting hit hard...healers sweating...and DPS well....dpsing. I'm playing smarter...and using everything at our disposal. Hell our Astro healer is using SYNERGY to manage the tank busters! Nobody uses that skill...but it's incredibly strong this tier.
