BY THEMSELVES, they can easily fit the idea of "healer's shouldn't wear plate".

Also, there is more than just plate armor in the game. There is leather armor, that I can't wear. There is chainmail armor I can't wear. There is CLOTH ARMOR I can't wear be I healer, tank or melee dps.

This argument of "what a class/role should wear" needs to die and burn. The only place it would REALLY MATTER is pvp and the enemies' class name is above their head.
I want to see someone new to FFXIV take a gander at each role decked out in their respective Shisui sets, and identify what role each player is in with 100% accuracy. Go on, I'll wait.

Or what about the YorHa sets? A yes, shorts and knee high socks. A healer could NEVER. Is that a slightly wider collar on an otherwise identical jacket. DRAGOONS AND REAPERS ONLY. NO MONKS OR SAMAURI ALLOWED. Not to mention the female Type-51 Fending and Healing sets are identical. A tank and healer both wear exactly the same thing. Oh wait, I'm sorry, I almost didn't notice the tiny cap that's clearly a healer cap. If a tank wore that cap, it would siphon their memory of tank stance away and feed it to an alien parasite I guess.
