We really should be able to glamour other jobs' sets

It's so ironic that people against the idea will die on the hill that mages should not wear heavy armor, and yet, we have a mage set called, straightforwardly, Radiant Mail of Casting. Afaik mail armor in classic RPGs is way out of a wizard's league. And guess what, it does look like heavy armor in game, with some cloth on top of it.

If those people are so concerned with visual purity of the "ridiculousness" of a mage in plate burning their retinas... Why they are even playing this game? Because right now people can look even worse with a wild combination of the cosmetic items available. And by that I don't mean just 2 or 3 outliers. There are tons of cosmetic items in the game with a silly (debatable) aspect, many easily accessible.

The only single reason I could understand from people against the ethos of this thread is that they would rather have development resources destined to do something else. Understandable, but that wouldn't stop the movement anyway.

but as I remember people commenting on the Dye Restricted/Unlocking of EW-AF Gear.
it simply brings to mind how simply put.
Crafted and Tome Gear simply could be Role Locked[or Locked to the Role you use it in a gear set too.., so those who complain-cry tbh- about it not giving the devs reasons to make different sets] with respective stats applied to the class..,<which later on in the dresser unlocks, to not matter in any which way..,> Different sets, no conflict of stats, Still need to get other sets for different roles.[cause it really needs to be stated again how ridiculous it is to even suggest that the devs don't like designing different gear sets, just for creativity on its own when they have the time/task]

OR

Have the sets Role Locked as usual, but have unlock in dresser.

[both of these, whilst admitting I don't have a grasp on the workings..,]
is not outside the realms of what can be done within the view of the normal player.

[Even more so, if we add the fact that Raid Gear has Chests that Drop to a certain class.., so it could also be added to it another factor that it drops Gear, which adjusts stats to said Role-that opened the chest- even if it's say a chest for a certain. role.]

[I personally do not care if AF Gear is unlocked or not. but in the end SE will SE, the rest of the existing gear has no excuse to be locked anymore]
<and tbh, anything that improves Glamour. and gearing/styling.., may spread to the Shop.., which I'll always push for accountwide>

we could have a system similar to savage. Savage is introduced as is and later on in the expansion gets echo introduced.
Have the gear become available for cross class glamour a patch or two after its made its initial impact.

It's especially hilarious when you consider that tanks and melees can already run around in robes, swimsuits, casualwear, pajamas, and mascot suits.
They're just being contrarian for the sake of it. I refuse to believe that there are actual human beings so severely incapable as to believe that this is an acceptable state of affairs.

The reply I got to this (don't remember if in this thread or another one) was "Why make it worse then?"

But to that, if you stop to look at what we have now, it's impossible to be "worse" with unrestricted glamours. Unless somehow a Gunbreaker wearing this:


(which ironically has the same silhouette of a GNB's initial armor set)

looks more ridiculous than a Gunbreaker wearing this:



Unrestricted glamour sets will not suddenly "open the pandora box" of diverse and silly glamours. That is already open with the sheer number of options. Unrestricted glamours however, will allow players to create better looking sets, given how broad the options could be.

Have nothing of value to add here, but I am in support of this. Please give us unrestricted gear, nobody is asking for weapons or artifact armor to be on all jobs.

A paraphrased conversation I had with a coworker of mine who's still pretty new and in ARR:

Him: "Whoa what armor's that guy wearing?"
Me after looking it up: "Oh that's PVP gear. We can unlock frontlines and you can get some wolf marks to buy it."

We do some PVP and he gets enough wolf marks for the helmet.

Him: "So the maiming one's a different color? That's lame."

Later...

Him: "I want to unlock Gunbreaker. When can I do that?"
Me: "Once you hit level 60 you can unlock it. You'll need to get the of Fending version of your armor though."
Him: "So I still need to change armor even if I'm using it for glamour? Why?"
Me: "There are people talking about wanting that restriction removed, but it doesn't seem like there's any plans to do anything about it right now. Yeah, you'll need to change which armor you have."
Him: "Let me go look at the tank one."

He looks at the tank version of that armor.

Him: "No! Why is it so ugly! This is terrible! They really shit on the tanks on this one, didn't they?"
