So uh, the story didn't really bring up the issue of absconding with what is more or less the village leader from the 13th, take them to another plane of existence, and said leader is all "Nah, that's cool. Voidsent suck even though I have shown empathy to them in this patch :^)" Am I just dumb and missing something? The further past 6.0 I go the more the writing gets inconsistent. lol

I feel like it did. Zero pointed out several times that the 13th has basically become "every creature for itself", and all she really did was create a self-running safe haven of sorts with the one basic rule of "don't devour each other." From what some of those random refugee voidsent say, it's normal for Zero to not always be there, and they found refuge there specifically to be safe, so there's no need for Zero to be there for business to continue as usual. Meanwhile, Zero herself just realized that the Source is much, much larger and more involved than she had thought from her experience with Zenos, so it's piqued her curiosity to stay and learn more (consider how our WoL only rarely ventured back to the Source from the First in ShB, and only for the bare minimum of time, even though they could freely move between the two worlds). Zero shows some empathy toward the other voidsent in creating the refuge, but she doesn't ever seem to view herself as deeply invested in them; her door is just basically open for anyone who wants to crash there, but they're still basically on their own.

I didn't find anything inconsistent in the writing for this patch (at least MSQ-related - I still need to check out the new raid questline).

I would agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that voidsent are known to say "screw the rules, you have aether!". You also have the fact that a voidsent just wandered into the room and went "What happened to Zero?" with the scions responding "She's asleep, don't worry bro!" and then take her. It wouldn't be hard for anyone who is paying attention in the area to go "Oh, something happened to her during the fight with she-hulk and now she's gone... Time to feast m8s!" Also is the fact that even Zero knows that she is on Gold-pez's radar so it wouldn't be much of a stretch to assume that NotExdeath would go stomping around her village trying to find her. Again, the writing feels like full life consequences were an afterthought, lol.

I think the issue with 6.2 is that there is a lot of plot convenience going on with the new character that is really hard to ignore once you think about it:

    1) Out of the entire 13th, Zero is located in the same domain as the WoL's landing
    2) Zero was rather imprisoned instead of being killed or absorbed by the domain leader (who was already aggressive vs. the WoL by us appearing).
    3) Zero is transformed back into a more mortal form due to Hydealyn's crystal and is shown to only be half-voidsent in a world completely overrun by voidsent.
    4) Zero manages to evade becoming a full voidsent when the world fell to darkness and only was in the previous form due to Zenos' meddling
    5) Zero has lost knowledge on how to defeat the main foe that NO ONE else knows or has been lost to time.

Some plot convenience is fine, but when you are adding so many layers to a brand new character in their introductory -- it comes off more as hamfisted.

Not as different as all the other plot conveniences we had in previous expansions. Where we just so happen to be there in the right place and in the right time.

The alternative is that we wander around aimlessly for some time before finding our plot hook.

It's a story. Plot convenience is expected.

Exactly, otherwise you have large sections of just pure nothing and filler with terrible pacing if people expect for things to happen realistically. If we already accepted this before during ARR, HW, SB, and ShB why all of the sudden does 6.2 get the bad rap here.

Again, odd criticisms that mean nothing.

It's almost like you can craft the story to show the history of this new land you have come across. Your guide can just be some random NPC that points you to the direction of a town while giving you some basic history of the area... Boy, the beginning of ShB was pretty spiffy.

We had the basic history of the Void already. We've had it since ARR, and got more from the Warring Triad and Shadows of Mhach stories in HW. And we did have random NPCs who gave us more history of the castle area. That's how we found Zero in the first place.
