    It's not a direct replacement for Eureka/Bozja, but it's taking some of it.

    Technically it's the equivalent of the Ishgard Restoration, but utilising the exploration content of Eureka/Bozja. You coukd claim Diadem as the equivalent but that was recycled content, in terms of resources, it's Eureka/Bozja.

    However the a Relic content will be seperate, and the levelling content will be provided via a new Deep Dungeon.
    So you can say that this time round they've taken Bozja/Ishgard Restoration, broken it up and put them back together in a different arrangement.


    As for what Island Sanctuary actually provides the game that's novel, I'd say that it's basically the Limited Jobs equivalent of crafter/gatherers, with a neat new animal farming and minion environment thrown over it.

    The timegate/big-grind wall hits you out of nowhere. The first 5-6 sanctuary levels go by smoothly, but then at 6-7 you have very little blue cowries left so you can't expand the island willy-nilly and you need rare materials to renovate your facilities, which is another timegated effort. It caught me totally off-guard. So it becomes the waiting game, or the '' go gather materials for hours and hours in a loop in one place that is the most efficient to farm, only to spend your entire day gaining one level but you aren't really rewarded with anything so why bother '' game.

    This is exactly it. And everyone who is begging to differ, kinda tells me they didn't run full speed into that wall last moment. God forbid they got excited over the outfits you could get too and spent their tokens buying that, not knowing you need 1k per expansion. I spent hours the other night leveling from one rank to the next, thinking "surely with how long it takes to level you'll get a decent handful of tokens once you rank up." Nope. You get diddly squat.

    I would have rather the Island been a new form of the Diadem and something to actively help crafters/gatherers.

    I think you've finally earned a spot on my ignore list on the forums. You rarely have anything useful to say and seem to prefer sitting around tossing out thinly-veiled insults and rolling your eyes at those who aren't fangirling over everything SE.

    Still waiting for that quote where SE said we shouldn't expect engaging gameplay from them.

    Yeah, the game becomes unbelievably stingy with rewarding you with cowries, thus making the whole '' let me go absolutely ballistic with my grind so I can level up the sanctuary with just gathering '' feel inane because leveling up the sanctuary at a certain point just means more timegated junk you need to do and more cowries you need to have to expand. So why bother grinding when I'm not rewarded with anything? Oh, I can go gather new materials and can craft 1-2 more items, cool, neat, whatever.

    Three-four full instances of doing Diadem will at least give you max skybuilder's scrips so you can buy a mount reward.
    Two weeks of doing the ShB-EW daily/weekly hunts every day will net you enough kupo nuts to get the big mount reward, plus it's an excellent addition to leveling levels 70 to 90. And you get some gil as well.

    Island Sanctuary on the other hand, it just feels like I'm loosing time, materials and cowries that I could've just used to buy the cute shorts and get out lol.
    What Island Sanctuary needs is a daily/weekly quest system that rewards you cowries, experience and/or materials. That would be a good first step.

    they said from the get-go that island sanctuary would be slow progress and while you can power grind island exp by gathering materials out in the wild, ultimately you'd get the same result but with far less effort by doing the content as intended, which is harvesting materials from your animals and fields daily/weekly, sending out your mammet gatherers, and making products that sell for chunks of cowries and exp (more if you pay attention to the trends and make several items from the the categories in high demand).

    Island Sanctuary is designed to be a long term super casual activity with little bearing on the outside world beyond glamours, mounts, etc.

    This min-maxing mentality is what's going to end up burning you out on it because it wasn't built to function that way.

    Funnily enough, it being timegated like this, as it sounds, won't matter to a player like me. Long term super casual is fine by me. I can barely be asked to log in to games to get the daily reward, and I spend most of my day afking if I am playing this game. I might grind it a bit for the hairstyle, and if I like anything else though.
