We could not be at more opposite ends of the spectrum. Without objective morality, it would be hell on earth because human nature inherently drives us to to some pretty terrible things.Pretty much everyone does just so happens sometimes they do not line up. Idk I do not think objective moral truths exist. I do feel we are consequence driven creatures.
Say hypothetically one could get away with breaking a rule without getting caught and said rule break greatly improved their enjoyment and quality of life while negatively impacting others. Do really think a code of ethics would prevent people from doing it?
I do not think so.
If it was objective wouldn't human nature not matter? Doesn't human nature show to some degree that morals are subjective and while within a social construct the notion of do not do x because it is wrong is enough for some, they need or you will face y consequence.
For some rules themselves are enough, I know many people that follow no smoking signs or no guns past certain area as examples, but I also know of many that ignore the no smoking signs due to lack of enforcement, and still conceal carry in places with signs that state the otherwise. Hell I know of people that drive without insurance. It is all about risk tolerance, and often consequences or likelihood of getting caught play into that risk tolerance equation.
Overall I guess you have more faith in humanity, personal I think if punishment was not a thing many people would ignore most if not all laws that have no personal impact on their own life.
It wouldn't be easy to give that proper response without delving into a topic I'd rather not broach on a public forum. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
