Ratings have never stopped any teenagers from playing a game that they want, same with pedos. Truth is nowhere is safe, at the end of the day it's up to the parent to try to closely monitor what their teens do online
Indeed, and if a game was rated M or for 18+ it would be much easier to know that game is not appropriate for teens. It would make the parent's job much easier.
Parents should be well aware that online interactions are not rated and that they will be talking to strangers. :O If parents can't do a modicum of research of what they're buying for their kids then maybe don't buy it for their kid.
This game is for teens, there is already a BUNCH of sex references in the game lore alone, there is bikinis and sexy outfits, for the most part if you want to ERP you have to go out of your way for it anyways, sans the weirdos who will /t you.
Right... ESO, dunno how that game got M rating and this didn't and vice-versa when they contain a lot of the same themes and innuendos.
Reminder the first FFXIV dungeon has a dungeon with rape victims. Also those that weren't saved were found drowned/turned into monsters the 2nd time we cleared out the place.
I was playing Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City every day in elementary school, and San Andreas in Middle School. ESRB ratings don't matter one bit. You just require someone of the proper age to be present when purchasing the game assuming you don't receive it as a gift. Age of Conan for example, an M-rated MMO, had a ton of kids running around in it because titties and it was pretty obvious.
Or you know, just don't ERP in a game for kids.Excuse you, you projecting ass. My parents did just fine raising me. They also understood the difference between fantasy and reality, it was a video game, it wasn't real. I was raised with the sense to know the difference and not to imitate anything happening in the game. If you have to helicopter parent your kids, you're doing it wrong. If you're a totally absent parent, you're doing it wrong.
Hiding things from your kids that they're naturally curious about is bad parenting. Whether it be sex, firearms, or any other taboo or dangerous thing. Sit down with them, talk about it, teach them responsibility. Do this well and you won't have to monitor them 24/7. Do this and you won't have to shelter them or be overbearing and stunt them for life.![]()
