Yeah, that one was often called Final Fantasy Cutscenes when it first came out.

Do you like JRPGs in general? If so, then IX may be a better choice. It came out after VII and VIII had turned to a more modern setting as a love letter to the original I through VI and their semi-medieval/steampunkish settings.

IV and VI are other classics of the series.

If you enjoy strategy or tactical gameplay, there's Final Fantasy Tactics for straight strategy and Final Fantasy XII that has a system that uses turn based but with a twist in the Gambit system. XII might also seem familiar. When it first came out, everyone said it was like an MMO and I didn't understand because I hadn't played XI. It wasn't like traditional MMOs. Then I played XIV and I understood. It's like a Final Fantasy MMO, and those are entirely their own beasts. That one also has great world building and a storyline that focuses heavily on political intrigue.
