Max lvl = the actual game, so why make people take forever to even start playing... that's like getting a meal and having to chew your bite 50 times before even getting flavor out of it.
While i agree that the leveling process shouldn't take forever...I don't think you should be able to jump to max level in just a day or two or even a week either.(Without hardcore leveling every day.) What i think they should do is make solo quests that are job/class exclusive that give players a challenge all the while teaching them how to play their roles in a party to help them be less newbish when reaching max level.

Max level isn't the only part of the game....its a LARGE part for most people but then you seem to forget that the game is designed to level up multiple classes/jobs/roles and a large part of it is spent in mid game. You seem to think the journey itself is not important. That you should rush to max level with your exclusive static group of friends(if any) and not explore anything or meet people. Mid-game and low-game ARE important, there is low level gear/content that will practically become useless because everyone just jumps to max level through afk powerleveling. Ultimately you will not learn job roles or how to play, not building relationships....not being part of the community. You will grind through all the content quickly and end quitting the game by the next month making it unmemorable non-satisfying experience....unless you get some super awesome LS that you like to chat and screw around with. Even then people has only so much patience if they already did all they want to do in game. Its not smart for players or for SE to make a completely top heavy game and rob players of the joys of slowly building your character and making them attached to the world, and creating that personal memorable experience.

Experience should be challenging...not grindy. I don't want to sit there for 9 hours getting 1 level i want to be a baller and get a 50+ chain because i actually put EXTRA optional effort in the game and it made ALL my endeavors that much easier while STILL keeping the game challenging somewhat. That if they make enemies HARDER to kill(to help teach through longer battles) that they should also offer more experience as well making battles more epic and noteworthy while at the same time keeping a steady pace for gaining levels. Mid game is more prominent since your character CAN do what most mmo's dont offer you...aka leveling all classes on 1 character. That horizontal leveling factor of FFXIV is what large part of the game is based around(as well as FFXI) that rewards you from playing a long time in MID game leveling various different classes/jobs. I say offer more fun and challenging dungeons for mid-game to help ease the leveling process...that you put skill in to level faster not more hours. Longer hours are for people who don't know how to play forcing them to become better eliminating people who are 50 yet still suck to do lack of time spent on each individual ability fully exploring it AND using in tangent with all your older abilities.

Power leveling is not a solution for 2.0 onwards...yoshi P more than likely just sees it as a band aid for the current lack of players.
