Can't really add anything new to that way of leveling when it has limits to how it works itself =/. The way you get experience points on the old style of leveling felt more of a chore then leveling in itself. It also adds towards the grind factor that some if not MOST the people on the forums look down upon.

I wouldn't be opposed to skilling up weapons like in FFXI, where it was sort of a penalty if you were being power-leveled. Reverting back to the old system.... not so much.

Weapon skill levels in XI was terrible. It came down to fighting trash mobs for no purpose. It added nothing to the game.

No thanks to old system. It's near impossible to balance out exp based on what people do during the fight. Promoting exp during the fight also makes people want to drag out the battles instead of trying finish them. I do not find it fun to torture mobs to death by the slowest means possible. This also pits all the party members against each other instead of promoting team work because all your action rob something away from other party members. And if some actions give you exp without killing the mob, people will just never kill the mobs.

The current system promotes team work to beat enemies faster to get more exp. It is more consistent and more equally rewarding. I like it a lot more.

If this is all to prevent powerleveling, then there's a lot better ways to do it.

I don't think a weaponskill up system would add anything to the game. Our current classes basically ARE our weaponskill levels, they're simply called levels. Crafting follows the same system, so there's no need for a seperate weaponskill system, like they had in FFXI.

I never understood people who desperately want XIV to be exactly like XI is/was... It seems idiotic to me to switch to the same game in a different world OR pay 2 subscriptions for the same game in a different world. Because a person who wishes XIV was XI, will definitely stay subbed to XI.

When I saw videos and whatnot I was all like: "Oh sweet, a new FF MMO! They can't possibly make it a carbon copy of the old school, slow paced MMO that XI was back in 2002." Well, kinda was like that. After making barely any money and having the first Final Fantasy title being called a total failure, they remedied it.

You know what? They're not going back. They want money, they want more people. Therefore they will make a game that's tailored to a more recent generation of MMO Gaming. Don't like it? XI is still up and running buddy.

Well technically the exp system we have now is more like FFXI than the original FFXIV. That was one thing that FFXI did fairly well, if you put aside how slow paced everything was.

But I totally agree with not cloning FFXI. There are tons of things in old school COP/TOAU FFXI that will not fly with today's MMO market. It has matured way too much, and poor design like that will ensure your MMO dies.

LOL, thanks for that blast from the past. Forgot about those old shouts for weapon skill-up parties. >.<

While I do like there being something in place that would penalize powerleveling (sorry, I think if you're going to blow through the levels that fast, it should come at a price), it's also a pain for those who level legitimately.

I don't miss the days of my WHM beating on things for hours on end with her hammer. I don't mind a few grindy elements in my MMOs, but that was just...mind-numbing. >.<

The rested exp would make more sense as well(at least to me). The other good thing is, you wouldn't be able to level up if you just sit afk/pl . Pling would be gone, it would most likely turn into the FFXI pl system which I didn't mind, because they didn't help in kill the mob, they just cured.

If you guys don't like that, I think they should get some type of "skill up" back in the game.
Please totally ignore this thread. Thanks in advance SE.

If you want a game that takes longer to level up then seriously play another game. That is the most simple solution, I personally love the way it is now and takes plenty enough time to level up if you are not getting power leveled. Plus Yoshi-P said this is what they wanted for this game and it should stay that way.

I can understand where you are coming from actually but I just don't agree with it. I played FFXI for years and that just took way too long to level up.

Oh god, if they ever consider bringing back that old trash skill up system from launch, please give me at least a month's warning so I can burn my last 2 classes to 50 to avoid the headache.

Sorry but the days of rotting in the basement for months to achieve max level and think it actually made you stand out are at an end. If you want to feel like you're the big fish mmo player, go do something actually challenging in the dungeons or primals (and I don't mean just beating them the easiest way possible). 75 didn't make anyone a good player in XI, 85 doesn't make anyone a good player in WoW... but I guarantee you the guys walking around in gear from the hardest encounters stand out from the pack.

Max lvl = the actual game, so why make people take forever to even start playing... that's like getting a meal and having to chew your bite 50 times before even getting flavor out of it.
