I see the argument you're trying to make here, but its a legalism and intellectual dishonesty imho. We all knew what he was saying, turning this into plausible deniability that this person merely meant to say an abstract truth doesn't float. Imho nobody is going to buy it.

More importantly though, it simply highlights what these people think of others and themselves. And its just classical elitism.

I'll let you argue the games stance on parsing with the TOS

Nice quoting the terms of service but that in itself is a can of worms. Firstly, I have parses in this game but don’t log or upload myself (because I play on PlayStation so can’t do it). I’ve not actually done anything wrong but a quick search of my character on FFLogs shows parses. I won’t get banned for this.

Secondly, Square Enix have no way to tell who’s actually running the logs. Sure they could add an anti-cheat or implement game client protection mechanisms to make the battle log harder to read with a third party program… but you’d also be impacting every other third party tool and treading on so many other toes.

Thirdly, and to continue from the last point, a lot of these third party tools exist in a grey zone that results from the TOS. Technically we can’t use them but they also don’t know if we’re using them. Stopping this would likely cost the raiding community players, not getting them into your PF prog runs four months down the road.

Banning parsers is a monkeys paw wish on many levels and won’t get the desired outcome you think it’ll get. Some players are just destined to progress for months after the best players and no game design change will solve that. Skill issue is a bigger issue than parsing.

It's a blanket statement. But I'll come up with something if you can tell me where I asked everyone to do this and sacrifice all of yourself to help people:

Give me one reason why I should pay a subscription, log on and give up hours of my free time to help players in PF who are quite happy to state that they don't care about contributing to the team because they want to play their way and that they think I'm a filthy hardcore elitist and the game would be better off without me.

It's a blanket statement. But I'll come up with something if you can tell me where I asked everyone to do this and sacrifice all of yourself to help people:

You sarcastically stated that others are "not worthy" of parsers joining their parties after someone ASKED what makes you entitled to them joining your parties.
You said you side with the director that people should help each other when nobody said that they shouldn't, only that they are free to do so at their leisure. If you agree with the freedom of choice on helping, all the better and then you wouldn't have any reason to argue in the first place.
You said someone would make toxic remarks in PF, grief their party and wipe them for one GCD.
You are the one saying that PF is better without people and accuse them of elitism.

You know what's interesting though? Both people on the side of the spectrum feel like they are the victim of the other, and like they are somehow the marginalized group. Let me propose a solution:

Be a chilled out competent gamer.

FYI I won't report you if you parse, even if I knew who it was specifically and had all the evidence in the world. But I will if you're a jerk. I still think its disease and overall negative to the game. But the game at this point is designed around it more than not. So I also agree there's nothing to be done about it like a lot of ppl and myself have mentioned.

Yes... my argument was that people should be stripped of their free will and become slaves with no other purpose than to help randos in PF clear.
