maybe smaller pulls would be good as well if there's a few people that like to pull before the tank. That way, the odds of a death between party members is reduced.
I legit hate Tanking dungeons because there's no pleasing everyone. I do wall to wall, I get yelled at to slow down. I do smaller pulls, I get rescue dragged into the next mob. It's beyond frustrating and I don't indulge in hobbies to be frustrated. So I'll ask what pulls they want and they'll act like an ass about it or I'll get radio silence. It isn't fun so I'll save myself the headache and queue as DPS or Healer and let whatever poor soul Tank decide their own pace and follow along. I enjoy tanking Trials/Raids because it's genuinely fun, especially when the 2/3 tanks have mechanics they have to work through together.
This community is so full of "UhM aCtUaLly..." whenever this discussion comes up. It's like everyone forgets this is a MMO with all different types playing and content like dungeons are a team effort. As long as everyone is pulling their weight and there's progress being made, then I have no issues with whatever pace the Tank chooses.
This is a huge part of it. If someone wants to push the pace that badly they should just make a tank themselves.Stuff like this is why I really cut back on group content. That sort of mentality really drains me imo. I enjoy wall to wall tanking but people can't seem to realize that not every dungeon is built to do that. I'm not even exclusively a tank but I always let out an audible sigh when I see dps and healers pull ahead because then I worry that the group is about to devolve into a s**tshow because the dps couldn't kill the group fast enough, the healers couldn't keep up, or the tank not realizing they have more buttons than their 123 combo. All I have to say is if they game is such a slog you have to speed through group content then why are you playing in the first place?
Reading the forums and actually playing the game is night and day. I see all these horror stories about tanking, but whenever I tank dungeons I do wall to wall and not once will I get someone telling me to slow down. I find most people actually prefer wall to wall, and personally I do too. Getting a tank that does single pulls when I am playing DPS in dungeons is not fun, and this happens even in the lvl 90 dungeons, especially the new one, and that dungeon I was doing wall to wall on the first day of the patch. I put up with slow pulls but I'd prefer a tank that does wall to wall.
Kupo I have actually /eatapple or whatever its called right in battle when the dps goes waaay far ahead and just watch them plop. They will normally (and expected) get vocal about things..to which I will reply "I don't think he knows about second breakfast, or elevensies, luncheon, or afternoon tea kupo" <3 kupo
To be fair its rare when I tank not to be able to keep up and take the mobs (it is just one aoe) but there is always that one that goes too far and makes it obvious kupo <3
Have fun kupo !
Kupo!
Yep, forums are overly dramatic about things.Reading the forums and actually playing the game is night and day. its been a VERY long time since somepnecomplained about me tanking.
i avoid pulling single groups... thats too boring anyway. if the healer feels steady and 'fast'/unpatient then i pull more. but at the same time i take my time. i dont use sprint as soon as the dungeon starts to rush through it. and i wait for a few seconds before i pull bosses. the last pulling healer i remember was a long time ago... i kust took the adds over (it wasnt dificult xD)
i dont rush through dungeons and i dont pull single groups and i do mistakes ebery now and then. people sometime die and yet its mostly peaceful.... where are all the complaing people while i'm the (far from perfect) tank?
Daily reminder to anyone that proudly advocates YPYT behavior.
