That doesn't really change anything about how even if you play your role confidently and competently you are still at the mercy of the 4/5 with you.
I'm really just making my peace with that now tbh.

I always say that If one wants to know how much of a RNG this can be, play BLM. You have almost no carry potential or tide-turning LB or high impact skills, require heavy set up, very easy to die when focused, and very team dependent because it is a red support. If your team is not decent or a team, you are most likely to perform worse and loss.
After almost 300 matches and climbing mostly with BLM (with a bit of RDM) to Plat, i think that it was extremely brutal in Silver and Gold. My worst memories are in Silver though as i got 10 consecutive losses there. Most of my teammates during Silver and Gold were not working as a team and scattered across the map resulting in me having to go to the frontline and die instantly or constantly getting jumped on with no one to help. Most of my curb stomped matches were in that range.
I had this conversation with a friend who is a SGE and he doesn't believe me about luck because he got from Nothing to Plat in 4 days while i was stuck in Silver and Gold for weeks. I have to play 200 matches to reach Gold while he got to Plat under a hundred and we only have 2% difference in Winrate. I think some jobs are more luck dependent than others purely because of their kit as you need to depend on your team to even work properly. Of course winning or losing is depending on the whole team, but meta or high tier jobs can work properly on their own with any kind of team so they have less RNG.
Good news though, once i reached Plat, people seems to work as a team better than Silver-Gold and my overall performance got significantly better.
In case you are wondering why I have a different name, E and R are not very far.
